Swim Programs! The Gallagher Centre Water Park uses the Lifesaving Society Swim Program for anyone wishing to learn to swim. Use the chart to determine which level you should register. Lifesaving Society Programs Lifesaving Parent & Tot Parent & Tot 1 provides an introduction to movement and water safety. Child must be able to hold their head up independently. For ages 3 to 12 months. Parent & Tot 2 builds on introductory activities to provide a variety of movement and safety experiences. For ages 12 24 months. Parent & Tot 3 encourages the child to move, float and even swim independently. For ages 24 months and up. Preschool Swim Focus in on developing basic skills in a fun environment. Program is aimed at 3 to 5 year olds. There are four levels to the program: Preschool A Parents are encourages to attend the first few classes in the water until children know they can to it themselves. Preschool B develops submersion and kicking skills Preschool C swimmers will improve how they move through the water and recover objects off the bottom. Preschool D advanced preschoolers will support themselves at the surface and swim short distances on their own. Adult Swim Lessons Adult 101 designed to increase the swimmer s comfort through basic floatation, movement and breathing skills. Adult 201 adults work towards a 50-100m swim. Must have the ability to swim 15m of any stroke. Adult 301 work on swimming fitness through improved strokes and workouts. Must be able to swim 100m using two of the recognized strokes. Lifesaving Swimmer Focus is on developing fundamental swimming skills for ages 5 and up. Swimmers who have completed Preschool C or D can start at Swimmer 2. Six levels to the Program Swimmer 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Canadian Swim Patrol Once swimmers are able to take care of themselves, Swim Patrol levels start to look at the rescue of others. Designed for ages 8 to 12 years. Rookie Patrol develops swimming strength with emphasis on personal responsibility for Water Smart behavior. Ranger Patrol skill drills enhance capability in the water including a non contact rescue Star Patrol develops judgment skills and prepares swimmer for the Bonze rescue levels. Page 4

Lifesaving Society Programs The Bronze Family Prepares swimmers to assist in aquatic supervision and rescue. Bronze Star aimed at swimmers who have completed the Swim Patrol levels. Bronze Medallion swimmers must be age 13 or have completed the Bronze Star. Bronze Cross swimmers must have completed the Bronze Medallion. Bronze Star ($64.00) Designed for ages 8-12. Completion of swim patrol levels is recommended before this course. Course integrates safety, fitness and lifesaving skills into a complete water smart package. Swimmers also receive their CPR-A with this course. Bronze Medallion ($80.00) Must be age 13 or older, OR have completed Bronze Star. Swimmers also receive their Emergency First Aid and CPR-B with this course. Must have Canadian Lifesaving Manual, available at the Water Park for $35.00. Session 2 Monday, March 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday, March 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Session 3 Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Session 4 Friday, September 5 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, September 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, September 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Bronze Cross ($80.00) Must have completed Bronze Medallion. Swimmers also receive their CPR-C with this course. Must have Canadian Lifesaving Manual, available at the Water Park for $35.00. Session 2 Wednesday, March 26 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, March 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, March 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Session 3 Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Session 4 Friday, September 12 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, September 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, September 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Junior Lifeguard Club ($48.00) An opportunity for youth aged 10 to 14 years to work on their rescue skills in preparation for lifeguarding. Focus is on developing the fitness, teamwork and skill necessary to assist people in trouble. Minimum of Swim 6 recommended. Water Park Lifejackets can be rented for $1.00. Lifesaving Society Programs Lifesaving Instructor ($202.00) Must be age 16 or older, and have completed Bronze Cross. Allows successful candidates to instruct Lifesaving Society Programs. Session 1 Saturday, February 16 to Tuesday, February 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Session 2 Monday, August 11 to Friday, August 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Aquatic Emergency Care ($107.00) Recognized standard first aid course which focuses on water emergencies. Swimmers also receive their CPR-C certification. Canadian Lifesaving Manual required. Available at the Water Park for $35.00. Session 1 Friday, February 8 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Session 2 Friday, April 4 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Session 3 Friday, August 8 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, August 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Session 4 Friday, September 19 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, September 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. AEC Recert ($27.00) This course allows candidates to recertify their Aquatic Emergency Care Award. Session 1 Friday, May 9 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Session 2 Tuesday, December 16 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Red Cross Programs Standard First Aid/CPR-C ($117.00) Course prepares candidates to deal with emergencies and entry into the Emergency Medical System. Session 1 Saturday, February 23 and Sunday, February 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Session 2 Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25 from 9:00 am. to 6:00 p.m. Session 3 Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If your organization or business requires certification and training, a course can be set up to fit your schedule. Candidates must complete 8 hours of supervised teaching experiences after the course to complete certification. Course dates will be listed in the 2008 Spring Brochure. Monday, March 24 to Friday, March 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Water Safety Instructor ($160.00) Must be age 16 or older and have completed Assistant Water Safety Instructor. Candidates must complete 12 hours of supervised teaching experience after the course to complete certification. Course dates will be listed in the 2008 Spring Brochure. Registration Info Gallagher Centre Water Park Payment is due when registering. Telephone registrations with credit card confirmation accepted. Call 786-1740 Classes with insufficient enrollments will be cancelled three days before the session starts and full refunds will be issued. Refunds, less a $5.00 Administration Fee, will be issued if registration is cancelled 2 days prior to start date. No refund will be issued if registration is cancelled within 2 days to start date. Wave Pool Safety Rules No diving anywhere in the wave pool No standing on any of the floaties No climbing on/over the fence No climbing on the rocks and play structures (mushroom) Waves are on for 10 minutes, off for 10 minutes Please return all tubes and toys to their original spot Waterslide Rules One person on the slide at a time Must go down the slide feet first Must lie on your back No stopping on the slide Remove glasses, jewelry and footwear before using NO PFD s on the slide You must wait until the top person gets to the bottom before sliding Main Pool Rues No diving in the shallow end No floaties in the deep end Diving board rules: One person on the diving board at a time One bounce on the diving board Make sure there is no one in your way before jumping off Must jump straight out/no angle jumps Page 12

Party Packages What you need to know! Birthday parties with children 6 years of age and under, MUST have a child to adult ratio of 2:1, and within arms reach at all times. Payment is due in full at the time of booking. There will be an extra $25.00 charge if the party room has not been cleaned up. A fridge is available for storage of your birthday cake if necessary. You are encouraged to bring your own plates/utensils and a knife for the cake. Don t forget matches to light the candles. No outside food allowed, other than birthday cake. Cancellation Policy Refunds, less a $5.00 Administration Fee will be issued if the party is cancelled 7 days prior to the party date. NO Refund will be issued if the party if cancelled within 7 days of the party date.
