FOND DU LAC BOARD OF EDUCATION 72 West Ninth Street Fond du Lac, Wisconsin June 27, 2016 CONVENE Call to Order, Roll Call, Establish Quorum, Moment of Reflection/ Pledge of Allegiance The regular meeting of the Board of Education was called to order by President Jurgella at 5:00 p.m. Roll Call was as follows: Members present: Breister, Hayes, Jones, Nett, Strand, Uselmann, Jurgella. Administrative staff members present: Sebert, Brockert, Lewis, Sheridan, Simon, Williams, Prior to the Pledge of Allegiance, the Board observed a Moment of Reflection. The Pledge was led by Board member Julie Nett. ANNOUNCEMENTS/ COMMUNICATIONS President Jurgella made the following announcements: 1. Following adjournment of the regular meeting, the Board will convene in a workshop for the annual Board Retreat. AUDIENCE TO VISITORS AND DELEGATIONS APPROVAL OF CONSENT RESOLUTION AGENDA MOTION BY Nett, seconded Jones to approve the consent agenda as follows: A. Human Resources Approvals: 1. Resignations - Aaron Roecker, music teacher at Roberts Elementary School, effective June 9, 2016; Elizabeth Mintie, instructional coach in ISC, effective at the end of the 2015-16 school year; Melissa Kees, special education teacher at Riverside Elementary School, effective June 9, 2016; Wendy Schlies, adaptive physical education teacher, effective June 15, 2016; Jose Chavez-Flores, newly hired Spanish teacher at Sabish and Theisen Middle Schools, effective June 22, 2016; and Jamie Stille, special education teacher at Fond du Lac High School, effective at the end of the 2015-16 school year.

Letter of Temporary Substitute Employment - Effective for the 2016-17 school year: Cody Cardinal,.5 FTE grade 3 job share teacher at Roberts Elementary School, at Level 1. INDIVIDUALLY CONSIDERED RESOLUTIONS Pupil Services Consider Approval of 2016-17 CESA 6 Contract The annual CESA 6 contract has been reviewed by the administrative staff. The amount of the contract can vary from year to year depending on the number of open enrollment students served by neighboring school districts that utilize CESA services. MOTION BY Nett, seconded Hayes to approve the 2016-17 CESA 6 Contract as presented. Consider Appointment of Expulsion Hearing Officer for 2016-17 Frank J. Endejan has agreed to serve as the expulsion hearing officer for the 2016-17 school year. MOTION BY Hayes, seconded Uselmann that as provided for in Wisconsin Statutes 120.13, Mr. Frank J. Endejan be appointed as the Independent Hearing Officer for the Fond du Lac School District with regard to proceedings for student expul-sion during the 2016-17 school year along with a delegation of authority of the Superintendent to arrange for such other independent hearing officers as may be needed.
Board of Education Page 3 June 27, 2016 Board Members Consider Approval of Revisions to Employee Handbooks for Teachers/ Professional Educators, Educational Support Professionals and Custodial/ Maintenance Employees The Board reviewed the handbooks in a workshop on June 13, 2016. MOTION BY Uselmann, seconded Nett to approve revisions to the Employee Handbooks for Teachers/ Professional Educators, Educational Support Professionals, and Custodial/Maintenance Employees as presented. Consider Approval of Suggested Revisions to Board Policy 2.23 Board Member Vacancy and Appointments (2 nd Reading) After a first reading on June 13, the revised Board policy which coincides with the requirements within Wisconsin Act 63 is ready for the Board s considered approval. MOTION BY Nett, seconded Hayes the Board of Education approve the suggested revisions to Board Policy 2.23--Board Member Vacancy and Appointments as presented at second reading, with such revisions to be effective upon formal action of the Board following second reading. BOARD/ADMINISTRATOR REPORTS Facility Services Discussion of Career Construction Academy Addition at Fond du Lac High School Superintendent Highlights from FIRST 2016 Conference John Williams, along with committee members Bob Roehrig, Sales Representative at County Materials, and Pat Smith, Safety Director and Corporate Secretary at C. D. Smith Construction, provided an update on the work of the committee since October and next steps necessary in order for project planning to continue. Dr. Sebert highlighted the amazing learning opportunity that was hosted at Fond du Lac High School on June 15-17. FIRST 2016 featured renowned speakers from around the globe for the nearly 1,000 educators in attendance. Fond du Lac was represented by 125 staff members.
Board of Education Page 4 June 27, 2016 Community Listening Session with Governor Walker Board Members Student/Staff Activities Lisa Steinacker, Fond du Lac High School teacher, presented highlights of a Listening Session with Governor Walker that she and four Fondy High students, along with Dr. Sebert, had the opportunity to participate in with other community members at the City/County Building on June 22. Linda Uselmann commented on the many wonderful learning opportunities offered in the summer school program. ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATE MATTERS AUDIENCE TO VISITORS AND DELEGATIONS ADJOURNMENT TO A WORKSHOP FOR THE ANNUAL BOARD RETREAT MOTION BY Nett, seconded Jones the Board of Education adjourn the regular meeting and convene in a workshop for the annual Board Retreat. REVIEW OPERATIONAL/ PROCEDURAL/STRATEGIC FOCUS The Board discussed operational/procedural and strategic focal points for the District.
