ISTE STUDENTS CHAPTER MURUGAPPA POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE Sathyamurthy Nagar, Chennai 600 062 REPORT ON ISTE TAMILNADU & PUDUCHERRY SECTION SPONSORED STATE LEVEL TECHNICAL PROJECT COMPETITION & EXHIBITION CREATE 2018 [Challenges in Recent and Emerging Advances of Technological Environment] A state level technical project competition & exhibition for Diploma Engineering students CREATE 2018 was conducted on 23 rd February 2018 at Murugappa Polytechnic College. The event is sponsored by ISTE Tamilnadu & Puducherry Section and Co-sponsored by M/S Tube Products of India Ltd., Chennai, M/S CLIPTOS Technologies, Chennai, M/S ELTA Tools & Dies, Chennai, M/S Balaji Electrical, Chennai and TDM Batch 2008-2011. The event brought together students from various polytechnic colleges across the state for sharing of knowledge in the emerging trends related to core branches of Engineering and for exhibiting their talents by fabricating and demonstrating their projects. Students projects were evaluated by a team of jury consist of an Industrial expert and an expert academician. The projects were evaluated considering their new ideas, innovation, and execution of the ideas, working of the projects, their involvement and the student s presentation skills. Students from all departments and years visited the exhibit of the projects after competition. It gave them new ideas, improvement in knowledge & skills, confidence in shaping their ideas. Around 600 school students from Classes 8 th & 9 th were also visited the exhibition. School students found the exhibition more interesting and innovative. They also motivated to choose engineering as their career. The best projects were awarded with Cash prizes, shields, medals and certificates. A sum of Rs. 5,000/- as First Prize, Rs. 3,000/- as Second Prize and Rs. 2,000/- as Third Prize was awarded to the Page 1 of 5

winners stream wise for external projects. A sum of Rs. 1,200/- as First Prize, Rs. 900/- as Second Prize and Rs. 600/- as Third Prize was awarded to the department wise winners for Internal projects. First year students participated in the Science Project Competition were also awarded cash prizes. Chief Guest for the Prize distribution function Dr. K.Manivannan, Vice-President/ISTE New Delhi, Vice-President/IFEESExecutive Director and National Experts Advisory Committee Member NCSTC-DST, MS&T, Govt. of India distributed the cash prizes, Medals and Certificate to the winners of the competition. The Chief Guest gave an insight about converting the projects into entrepreneurial ventures and motivated the students to become entrepreneurs. Principal Dr. K.Sudhagar presided over the function and wished the participants and offered suggestions to the participants for their betterment. The general feedback obtained from the participants, visitors, juries and department coordinators are encouraging. A total of 193 projects participated in the competition and exhibited to the visitors including 70 projects from external polytechnic colleges.
