ASI SENATE MEETING Thursday, February 9, 2017 Cora M. Culla ASI Executive Director s Report 1. SUBJECT: ASI Open Searches DETAIL: Management: Executive Director: The position has been posted with The Spelman and Johnson Group linked to the ASI website; applications are being accepted until March 3 rd. Associate Director of Human Resources: The position has been posted and a search committee is to be determined. Staff: Accounts Payable Fund Specialist: The search committee met on Monday, 2/6/17 to review additional job applications; phone interviews are scheduled for Thursday, 2/9/17. Building Services Engineer: An offer has been successfully made. Custodian: Position has been posted and a search committee is to be determined. 2. SUBJECT: Updates from the Children s Center DETAIL: The children at the Children s Center celebrated Chinese New Year in their classrooms, due to the rainy weather. Several of our parents came in and shared the meaning of several traditions with the children- they talked about the Lunar New Year, about giving good fortune with the red envelopes, and the tale of the monster scared away by the noise of the fire crackers. The children enjoyed comparing Chinese writing to our own alphabet. The day was enjoyed by all!

SUBJECT: Updates from Student Activities and Programs DETAIL: Bronco Spirit Week and Homecoming ASI Bronco Events and Activities Team (BEAT) presents the first ever Bronco Spirit Week from February 24-25, 2017. Activities vary each day, and BEAT hopes to see senate show their CPP pride and come out to events! On Monday, there will be the Spirit Week Kickoff at the Bronco Student Center to celebrate our athletes. Tuesday will showcase our clubs and organizations during the Winter Club Fair. Workout Wednesday will have giveaways and fun activities at the BRIC. Thursday brings U-Rock during the lunch hour, a tailgate before the basketball games, and the 2nd Last Lecture Series. Friday is the annual Homecoming Dance cosponsored by IHC. Saturday brings our annual Homecoming Event, which is a collaboration with the university. Swing Night ASI Bronco Events and Activities Team and the Cal Poly Jazz Band hosted an amazing night of live music and dance! Over 300 students attended the program that featured free dance lessons, free food, and a costume contest. Thank you to the senators who attended and supported this event! The Lip Sync, Friday, February 17, 7:00pm-9:30pm, Ursa Major ASI Student Activities and Programs (SA&P) is thrilled to announce their next event called The Lip Sync! The actual lip sync battle will occur 7pm-9:30pm on Friday, February 17th in Ursa Major. There will be prizes! If senators are interested in participating, they should email asiactivities@cpp.edu. HMC hosted their second meeting of the quarter on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 during U-hour in the Panda room. The next meeting will take place Tuesday, February 28 during U-Hour in the Panda room. 2. SUBJECT: Hospitality Career Expo a. On Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., more than 80 of the nation's leading hospitality industry firms will be looking for new recruits at The Collins College's annual Hospitality Career Expo! The event is open to currently registered Cal Poly Pomona students and alumni. 3. SUBJECT: HMC Spring Carnival a. HMC has set the date for our 2017 Spring Carnival. It will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

SENATE MEETING REPORT Michael Burckhardt Senator-at-Large, Inter-Hall Council February 9 th, 2017 IHC Elections: IHC will be hosting an elections informational night on Wednesday, 2/8/17 at 8pm. This info night will detail the positions available and the process of how to run for a position. Super Bowl: IHC held a successful Super Bowl viewing party this past Sunday, 2/5/17 in the MPR. We had food and games, and had an attendance of around 180 people.

Subject: Bronco Leadership Summit Details: Friday, February 17 (9 a.m. 2 p.m.) Location: BSC This event is a leadership summit to help individuals grow professionally and to help groups work well together.

SUBJECT: Bylaws Details: Unfortunately our bylaw situation was not fixed before Sam Smith s resignation so we hope to draft out bylaws and work with the new Attorney General, upon their appointment, to have them in place soon. 6. Subject: Crowning of the Bronco Court Details: We are currently looking for people to apply to be a part of Crowning of the Bronco Court. Any student interested in being a contestant can apply at cbc.cppsic.com. The event will take place on Tuesday May 16 at 5pm in Ursa Major.
