In the 4-H Recipe Rally, 4-H members are challenged with selecting, creating and/or altering a recipe and submitting a video of them demonstrating the preparation of the recipe. To participate, youth will submit their video entry online for a chance to be selected as a presenter at the Dinner Tonight with Texas 4-H Cooking School, held at the 2015 Texas 4-H Roundup. Recipes should be a healthy main dish that tie to the theme Bringing Texas to the Table. Please contact Hannah at the Extension office for more detail, 782-3312. 2015 Victoria County 4-H Whiz Bang Date and Time: Saturday, May 16th and Sunday, May 17th, 2015 Juniors & Intermediates shoot on Saturday, May 16th Senior 1 & Senior 2 shoot on Sunday, May 17th Registration Check In starts at 8:00 a.m. Mandatory Safety Orientation starts at 8:30 a.m. Shooting starts immediately following Safety Orientation. Location: Victoria Skeet and Trap Club (DO NOT MAIL REGISTRATION HERE!!) 2616 Perimeter Road, Victoria, Texas 77904 www.victoriaskeetandtrapclub.com (map to range available on VSTC Website) Cost: $50 registration, plus $15 for Skeet, $15 for Trap, $20 for Whiz Bang $10 per Person for Two Man Team (Late fee of $25 for entries received after May 6th, 2015) Lunch: Meal will be provided for shooters. P A G E 8 What are the Agents Working On? 2015 Ag Tour The Jackson County Extension Field Crops Committee is conducting an Ag Tour of several grain and cotton crop demonstrations in the Ganado/Crossroads areas. Three hours of CEU s for your Pesticide applicators license will be available for $10. One in IPM, two in General. The Jackson County Ag Tour will be on Monday, June 15, 2015. It will start at the Hafernick Center at 4:00 p.m. Certified Crop Advisor hours may also be available. Tour stops may include a corn hybrid demonstration with cooperator Bures Farms, a Regional Agronomic Cotton Evaluation with cooperator Chris Hajovsky, a sorghum hybrid trial with cooperator Rick Hasdorff, a soybean variety trial with cooperator Jake Foltyn and a sugarcane aphid demonstration with cooperator Steve Andel. Tour speakers include: Dr. Josh Mcginty, Extension Agronomist from Corpus Christi; Dr. Gaylon Morgan, Associate Professor and Cotton Specialist from College Station; Dr. Robert Bowling, Extension Entomologist from Corpus Christi. A meal will be catered by Mustang Creek BBQ in the Hafernick Center after the tour.
