To help the District Support Team plan how it may be of service to your Club and the wider District please respond to the questions on this form The provided will build District 9800 s Strategic Plan for 2018-2019. Your time and consideration in making it a useful working tool is very much appreciated. It is not expected that you will tick all the boxes. Please make as many comments and notes on individual Club projects as required. FOUNDATION: 4.1 FOUNDATION GRANTS PROGRAM your Club participate in? Tick to indicate YES a. Global Grants Support large activities that have a long-term sustainable impact. Global Grants can either be for Projects (generally carried out internationally) or may involve Vocational Training Teams of professionals empowering international communities. Sponsorship may be from one or several Clubs contributing to a Global Grant Contributions from Club(s) together with District Contributions and matching contributions from Foundations must total $US30,000 b. Local District Grants Designed for small local community projects the District Foundation will match club contributions dollar for dollar to a maximum of $2,500, for approved projects. c. International District Grants Intended for smaller International projects that do not qualify for a Global Grant, District Foundation will match club contribution 50 cents to the dollar up to a maximum of $5,000. 4.2 FOUNDATION PROMOTION AND PUBLICITY - your Club consider:? FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS Peace and Global 4.3 a These are signature programs for The Rotary Foundation and for our District, which is the premier District in the world in fact District 9800 is the only District to have successfully nominated a candidate every year since the program commenced in 2001 (30 Fellows in all as at November 2017). The Club s role is to identify and evaluate a candidate. There is no cost to the Club. Is your Club willing to participate in identifying suitable candidates for? Peace Fellowships two types available (Applications close 1 st May 2019): B 2 year master s degree C. 3 month professional development certificate District Global Grant Post Graduate degree studies The Club s role is to identify and evaluate a suitable candidate for studies compliant with The Rotary Foundation s Six Areas of Focus. The study period may be from one to four years. A club may initiate their own GG application and fund it accordingly. Alternatively, District may fund the Scholar through its annual District Global Grant Scholarship, the total value of which varies according to DDF available (It has previously been up to US$60,000). 4.4 Foundation Support by Club.. a. The Rotary Foundation is Rotary s charity and in 2016-17 was recognised as the number one charity in the world with impeccable standards for financial management and transparency and for what it achieves. It is funded entirely by club and personal donations. Estimated Club Contributions for 2018-2019 (please refer to Foundation fundraising analysis for your Club provided with this document) The Rotary Foundation = A$ The PolioPlus Global Challenge Program = A$ (The Foundation s target is for each Club to contribute at least A$150 per club member in 2018-19. This figure excludes any individual s contribution to TRF by people in the EREY, Centurion or PHS programs) Club Member Contributions for 2018-2019 (The number of Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY / Centurion) and Paul Harris Society members in your Club is detailed in the Club Foundation Fundraising document) Rotarians and others contribute A$100 a year to become EREY /Centurion members and US$1000 a year to become Paul Harris Society members) Targeted increase during 2018-2019 EREY / Centurion members Paul Harris Society members 4

4.5 Royce Abbey Awards Royce Abbey Awards are awarded by the Club to Rotarians who show outstanding service to your Club and Rotary. The Awards are available at a cost of $1000. A comprehensive document: Child Safe Activities A guide to the obligations of Rotary Clubs in District 9800 has been prepared by District Governance Chair David Whiting. Full details can be found at www.rotarydistrict9800.com.au in the Governance policies section. A minimum recommendation would be working with children checks for all club members. Changes to the Working with Children legislation came into effect on 1 August 2017. They mean that in some instances checks will now be required when they were not previously.
