Nomination Form for NOHS Board of Directors Open Positions- 2016 The following positions on the National Organization for Human Services Board of Directors are available. We ask you to consider candidates who meet the criteria provided below. You may nominate yourself, if eligible. 5.1: All officers shall be members of the National Organization, and each, before taking office, must have had a minimum of two years of service to the National Organization and/or its affiliates with the exception of the President who must have had two years of official service on the Board before taking office. Each officer will be elected for a two-year term and may be re-elected for one additional term. Each officer shall provide a report to the membership at the annual meeting. Nominations for President of the Organization 5.2: The President shall perform all duties normally incident to the office such as presiding over meetings of the Board of Directors and the annual Membership meeting and shall select the recipients of the Annual President s Awards. The President is responsible for the oversight of the policy and agenda of the organization, and is dedicated to the advancement of Human Services and the mission of the Organization. The President shall be elected in even numbered years. Represent organization to community constituents; Collaborate with other organizations such as the Council for Standards in Human Service; Education (CSHSE) and Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE) on joint ventures; Ensure current bylaws, contracts, and agreements are being correctly followed; Have access to banking accounts and coordinate with Treasurer for financial decisions; Assist Association Manager with coordinating operational tasks as needed from the board; Have access to NOHS website and give recommendations for changes as needed; Work with Secretary to set meeting times and agenda. Nominations for Secretary 5.7 The Secretary shall ensure the archiving of bylaws, records of the National Organization, shall keep minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors, and of annual Membership meeting. All minutes of meetings shall be published to members of the board within 30 days of the conclusion of a board meeting. The Secretary shall be elected in even numbered years. Use an internet storage platform for archiving materials and publish meeting minutes on the shared drive (dropbox) within 30 days of the conclusion of a board meeting. Keep minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors and of annual Membership meeting. Work with President to set meeting times and agenda. Send out reminder emails a week before meetings including board member report template. Use NOHS template with official logo for meeting minutes. Use Adobe Connect or other conference platform for meeting Use Conference Call as needed Nominations for Vice President for Regional Development 5.4 The Vice President for Regional Development acts as a liaison between the National Organization and its various regions. Such duties may include attendance at regional conferences, programmatic support to regions as they develop, and other support that regions may desire. The Vice President for Regional Development shall be elected in even numbered years Provide support for and/or coordinate the establishment of a 501C3 (or signed letter outlining compliance and reporting responsibilities to NOHS if operating without a 501C3) for all regions; Work with Management to ensure that these are kept updated; Coordinate the establishment of an MOU between NOHS and all regions and work with Management to ensure the MOU is kept updated; Ensure the reciprocal sharing of membership lists between the National Organization and each region; Ensure the reciprocal sharing of the names and contact information for each board member. Work with Management to develop an annual calendar of conferences and other related activities at the regional level. Attend and/or coordinate national organization representation at regional conferences. Work with Management to develop and implement a process for communication of election results and identification of Regional Representatives by the Regions. Provide technical support to regions as they develop, and other support that regions may desire. Ensure the establishment of clear processes for how moneys will be handled and returned to regions. Coordinate the use of the NOHS website for joining and for linking to regions. Coordinate the development of an Affiliate Procedures Manual. Explore and ensure the implementation of an on-line method for joint memberships. Develop and coordinate a system for ensuring regular and ongoing communication (telephone, email, etc.) between the VP for Regional Development and the Regional Representatives. Provide orientation to new regional representatives. Assist the AM with developing new initiatives with regions, universities, community organizations, and other organizations that are interested in partnering with NOHS. Provide formal and informal reports to the NOHS board on potential collaboration with universities, community organizations, and other organizations that are interested in partnering with NOHS. Provide formal and informal reports to the NOHS board on the state of the regions.
Assist with the facilitation of communication between the regions and the National Organizations. Assist the AM with the development of new international regions or international partners. Consult with regional representatives on questions, concerns, etc. that they may have about their regions or the region s relationship with the National Organization. Consult with regional representatives on activities, programs, initiatives related to professional development, membership, branding, marketing, etc. Nominations for Vice President for Professional Development and Education 5.5 The Vice President for Professional Development and Education oversees continuing education and training for the membership. Duties include overseeing committees that acquire permission for continuing Education Units from appropriate professional organizations; offer continuing education opportunities in a variety of forms; and link members to certification opportunities. The VP or their designee serves on the Center for Credentialing and Education Recertification Committee. The Vice President for Professional Development and Education shall be elected in even numbered years. Maintain regular contact with CCE to engage in mutually negotiated roles regarding continuing education. Coordinate with VP for Conferences, annually and prior to the national conference, to make application for and ensure appropriate credentials of presenters and proposal descriptions/outcomes. Coordinate with VP for Conferences and CCE to provide certification exam at national conference. Develop timetable for submission of applications for CEU approval for any continuing education units, including national conference. Acquire permission to provide CEUs from appropriate professional organizations. Offer continuing education opportunities in a variety of forms. Investigate available formats & technologies. Link members to certification opportunities. Coordinate two continuing education offerings per year. Communicate with management team regarding continuing education offerings. Survey membership at least annually regarding continuing education needs using on-line survey tools. Provide consultation to/with regions for continuing education opportunities. Serve on CCE Recertification Committee. Serve as liaison to CSHSE. Communicate regularly with CSHSE for continuing education needs/requirements relating to accreditation. Communicate to/with Management Team/Executive Board for review and approval of continuing education offerings/financial information (fees, tuition, etc.), especially over/exceeding normal fees.
Nominations for Vice President for Public Relations 5.6 The Vice President for Public Relations ensures that publications such as the Link, Journal for Human Services, and other media are available to the membership. This position also oversees fundraising, the national organization s complete marketing strategy including marketing approaches and materials, and webmaster functions. The Vice President for Public Relations shall be elected in even numbered years. Develop an annual marketing proposal that includes a strategic plan to increase the visibility and membership of the National Organization for Human Services. Maintain a public relationship by writing and sending out press releases. Maintain the social media presence. Assist in the design of brochures, flyers, newsletters, website, or other promotional materials, ensuring that they reflect the organizations image and highlight the benefits of membership. Maintain marketing research, which can include instituting surveys, customer questionnaires and/or target markets that focus on promotional efforts for the organization. Identify and develop fundraising opportunities. Organize and/or attend/present at regional conferences or to groups to bring awareness of the National Organization for Human Services and the benefits of membership. Needed skills: Applicant must be technologically savvy and competent with social media (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter).
