Athletics Sports Administrator Criteria General Responsibilities: Work with Senior Associate Athletic Director for Administration on setting up PFP objectives for coaches and staff. Ensure all policies and procedures are being enforced on a consistent basis (i.e. team travel policy, code of conduct, academic policy, dress code etc). Act as intermediary with interdependencies including academic support, student development, marketing, campus ministry, residence life, compliance, development etc. Reinforce the Mission of St. John s University. Continually educate the coaches to set objectives and view issues from an institutional perspective. Help integrate team and student-athletes with the University community. Understand the needs and the demands of the program. Provide support for coaches and act as a facilitator to improve efficiencies in needed areas. Provide approval on program objectives, budget planning and forecasting. Provide approval for all team travel (including pre-season). Be aware of missed class time and ensure appropriate consideration is being made for academics when planning schedule. Meet weekly in season and twice monthly out of season.

National Recognition National Basketball Association's Player Development Service Award. The award sponsored by the NBA recognizes programs that provide innovative educational programming and support services. Student Development for Athletes program was recognized by the National ACademic Advising Association (NACADA) as a model practice and was be showcased in a Best Practice Monograph. The National Association of Academic Advisors recognized SJU with the N4A Model Practice Award for our Faculty Engagement Program that creates ways for faculty members to become more familiar with the student-athlete experience at the University.

Leadership Development Student-Athlete Orientation All incoming freshman and transfer student-athletes participate in a full day orientation program designed to ease their transition to St. John s. SD 101 Student Development 101 First- Year student-athletes are required to attend this weekly program during the fall semester. Peer Educators consisting of upper-class student-athletes facilitate all sessions. Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Consisting of representatives of each varsity team meets with senior administration twice per month throughout the year. Community Service Fr. Richie Rock is the Campus Minister to athletics and works closely with our student-athletes and coaches to develop an understanding and appreciation for the Vincentian mission of the institution. Student-athletes are challenged to put their knowledge of the Vincentian mission into action through community service activities. Last year, athletic teams volunteered at over 66 different organizations and provided over 2,500 hours of community service during the 2013-14 academic year. Women s Soccer and Volleyball received the annual team Community Service Award during the Athletic Awards Banquet on Monday night.

Win---Graduate---Serve Highlights Men s Soccer, Volleyball, Women s Soccer, Women s Tennis, Men s Golf, and Track and Field received All-Academic Team Honors for the 2013-2014 by their respective Coaches Association s for their teams academic performance in the classroom. 169 student-athletes were named BIG EAST All-Academic Team earning at least a 3.0 GPA for the 2013-2014 Academic Year, additionally 20 student-athletes from Men s and Women s Fencing met the requirements, but do not participate in the BIG EAST.

Athletics, Compliance INSTITUTIONAL CONTROL / NCAA MEMBERSHIP St. John s University, staff members, student-athletes, and other individuals and groups representing the institution s athletics interests must comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA and BIG EAST Conference conducting the intercollegiate athletics program. St. John s University through its Athletic Compliance Office, shall monitor the athletics program to assure compliance with NCAA, BIG EAST and institutional policies and to identify and report to the NCAA and Big East Conference instances in which compliance has not been achieved. In any such instance, the institution shall cooperate fully with the NCAA and BIG EAST Conference and shall take the appropriate corrective actions. Additionally, St. John s University through its Athletic Compliance Office shall educate coaches, staff and student-athletes about NCAA, BIG EAST and St. John s University policies. ETHICAL CONDUCT St. John s University is responsible to promote the character development of all participants and to promote civility among student-athletes, coaches, and all others associated with the athletics programs. The fundamental values of respect, fairness, honesty and responsibility are consistent with the educational mission and goals of St. John s University.
Athletics, Compliance PERSONNEL Certification, Compensation, Limitations AMATEURISM A student-athlete s amateur status is certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center prior to their collegiate enrollment. After their collegiate enrollment, the student-athlete s amateur status is certified by the NCAA institution. A student s participation in intercollegiate athletics is an avocation and student-athletes should be protected from exploitation by professional and commercial enterprises. RECRUITING The recruiting process involves a balancing of the interests of prospective student-athletes, their educational institutions and the NCAA s member institutions. Recruiting regulations are designed to promote equity among member institutions in the recruiting of prospective student-athletes and to shield prospective student-athletes from undue pressures that may interfere with their scholastic or athletics interests.
Athletics, Compliance ELIGIBILITY Eligibility requirements are designed to assure proper emphasis on educational objectives of the institution, to promote competitive equity among member institutions while preventing the exploitation of student-athletes. FINANCIAL AID A student-athlete may receive athletically related financial aid as well as academic or needbased financial aid up to the cost of attendance (tuition, fees, books, room, board, personal and transportation) as authorized by the University. AWARDS and BENEFITS An award is an item given in recognition of athletics participation or performance and achievement. Such awards are subject to the limitations set forth by the NCAA. An extra benefit is any special arrangement by an institutional employee or a representative of athletic interests to provide a student-athlete or a student-athlete s relative or friend with a tangible or intangible benefit that is not normally available to the general student body or authorized by NCAA legislation. PLAYING SEASON The time required of student-athletes for participation in intercollegiate athletics is regulated to minimize interference with their opportunities for acquiring a quality education in a manner consistent with the University Mission.
Athletics External Affairs ATHLETICS DEVELOPMENT Red White Club The premier giving society for supporters of Red Storm sports. Individuals who contribute $250 or more annually are entitled to privileges and amenities only available to Red White Club members. Special Events These include large-scale fundraising events such as the Carnesecca Golf Outing, Basketball Tip-Off Dinner, the Doc Gimmler Golf Classic and the Baseball Bullpen Fundraising Events, as well as smaller athletic alumni receptions for each sports program. Major Gifts for Capital Improvements The Athletic Development team which falls under the Institutional Advancement arm of the University is tasked with the responsibility of securing Major gifts which can go toward the improvement of our Athletic facilities and assist in enhancing the student experience through the purchase of state of the art training equipment.

Athletics External Affairs CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS We are partners with IMG College one of the leading multimedia rights holders in the college space. We have two full time staff members that are assigned to the St. John s University account and they look to maximize our corporate sponsorship dollars. The partnership provides the department a consistent revenue annually. TICKET OPERATIONS The ticket sales and fulfillment team is responsible for a variety of ticket sales efforts including: season ticket packages, individual game tickets, group sales and courtside seating for men and women s soccer, men and women s basketball, lacrosse and baseball. They are also responsible for financial reports and reconciliation between the Madison Square Garden and Carnesecca Arena box offices.
Athletics External Affairs MARKETING AND PROMOTIONS The marketing and promotion of our sports programs is accomplished through a variety of methods. Gameday giveaways enhance the experience of fans at our events and schedule cards and posters are created and distributed around the SJU campus and local community to promote attendance at games. The marketing staff also works closely with the ticket operations staff on special ticket sales promotions for a variety of sports. The promotions are targeted toward various groups including students, community organizations, corporations and youth groups.

SJU-TV Over 100 St. John s students have completed TVF4206 in the seven semesters that the practicum course has been offered through the College of Professional Studies Since the beginning of 2012-13, SJU-TV has produced 270 live events with 180 airing live in H.D. on ESPN3 to over 95 million households Fall 2013, SJU-TV rolled out a 20-foot, state-ofthe-art H.D. mobile unit to augment the quality of live and on-demand content while providing St. John s students with a professional, live sports production environment
