ESASTAP Plus ESASTAP Plus is aimed at supporting the deepening of scientific and technological cooperation, with a special focus on innovation: Enrich science and technology innovation policy dialogue; Promote strategic cooperation under key instruments, chiefly Horizon 2020; Better coordinate and exploit synergy between EU, MS and SA programmes, and Expand cooperation to specifically address innovation partnerships.

WHAT IS EUREKA? An intergovernmental network established in 1985 to promote international, market-oriented research and innovation Market oriented: Research results must be a marketable product, process or service for civilian use Financed through national and regional public and private funding Bottom-up: the participants usually led by industry decide on the project aim. There is no thematic restriction Support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), large industry, universities and research institutes performing close to end research

National evaluation process The SA NPC receives an application from (a) SA researcher or (b) other NPCs The SA NPC lead the consultation with relevant funding parties in SA NPC organise a meeting with the SA applicant who will deliver a presentation to the DST and other national funding parties where applicable to decide on the national support to the project Decision 1: DST support to the project and budget negotiations (to decide on the exact DST financial support to the project Decision 2: DST non financial support to the project if there are no clear RDI outputs Decision 3: DST not supporting the project if it is not in line with the national objectives Eureka PAM by the NPC Finalise national funding agreements for projects that got the Eureka label
ACQUEAU Cluster ACQUEAU is the first cluster dedicated to financing water innovation. ACQUEAU main objectives are: Reducing the water footprint Improving water resources management and accessibility Managing with aging or insufficient infrastructures Coping current social, financial and global issues facing the water sector 11
Current Call in ACQUEAU Opening date 26 May 2015 Closing 18 September 2015 Key steps in setting up a EUREKA Cluster project include: Select a Cluster: participate in one of Cluster Information Days. Develop a project idea and submit a project outline* to the Clusters Offices. See the cluster calls deadlines Initial assessment: Clusters will perform the overall evaluation of each submitted proposal in tight collaboration with the Public authorities. Submit a Full proposal Cluster label is awarded to your proposal, which entitles you to submit your funding application to the funding body of your country. Clusters will facilitate contacts. Launch your project: start your project! Support: feel free to contact the Cluster secretariat for specific questions or concern 12
