Intent and Objectives The past several years have been marked by advances in the recognition, diagnosis and management of clinical endocrine disorders including diabetes, osteoporosis, vitamin D deficiency, thyroid nodules, polycystic ovary syndrome, and male sexual function. The objective of this course is to provide an update in these areas of clinical endocrinology to primary care physicians, internists, endocrinologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified diabetes educators, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians and other health care specialists and providers involved in the care of patients with endocrine disorders and diabetes. Conference attendees will gain an increased understanding of the presented topics, allowing them to better integrate and employ new strategies for diagnosis and management in their own clinical practices. At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to: Describe new therapies and technologies for the prevention and treatment of diabetes. Explore innovative methods for promoting access to quality diabetes care and self management education. Describe diagnosis and up to date treatments for the most common endocrine disorders. Demonstrate newer devices such as those for inhaled insulin. Recognize the benefits of exercise and new strategies for motivating patients to start an exercise program. Who Should Attend This symposium is designed for professionals in the areas of clinical endocrinology to primary care physicians, internists, endocrinologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified diabetes educators, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians and other health care specialists and providers involved in the care of patients with endocrine disorders and diabetes.
