Central High School Graduation Ceremony Class of 2018 Commencement ceremonies mark the culmination of a portion of scholastic attainment and are intended to be a memorable occasion. Remembering our role as dignified, mature young adults is the best way we can make the occasion truly impressive. GOWNS: Gowns have been packed very tightly for shipping and will require pressing with a warm iron. Please place gown on hanger after pressing. The wearing of buttons, signs, etc. is prohibited. CAPS: Caps are to be worn with the long point to the back of the head and the short point down on the forehead. The mortarboard should be in a horizontal position on the top of the head, rather than on the back of the head. It is recommended that bobby pins be used to help hold the mortarboard in place. The tassel is worn on the left side until completion of Commencement. Gentlemen, please remove your caps for the playing of the National Anthem. COLLARS: Girls should hook collars in the back of the yoke and fasten each side in front with a small safety pin. The collar is reversible and may be reversed after Baccalaureate in order to have a fresh collar for Commencement. CLOTHING UNDER GOWNS: It is recommended that light weight clothing be worn for both ceremonies, since it may be very warm on the athletic field. SHORTS AND/OR THONG SANDALS ARE NOT APPROPRIATE ATTIRE. QUESTIONS TALK TO SELLDEN OR DOWNEY.
