Senior Ditch Day... Tuesday, April 10 th - Wednesday, April 11 th Testing Days Other than that day any other days are not condoned or sanctioned and the attendance policy will be in effect. 2018 FINAL EXAMS Graduating seniors will take final exams on Tuesday 5/8/18 (RED) and Wednesday 5/9/18 (WHITE). All vocational classes for seniors at WCCC and Career Center will end on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. CLEARANCE FROM SCHOOL Check with Ms. Bricker in the Budget and Accounting Office to see if anything is posted on your records (fines/fees). Check in Library to clear fines and return books (all items are due April 17). A clearance receipt will be given to you when your final checkout from school is completed. This is your receipt for final clearance for graduation and must be presented before picking up your cap and gown. Please note: Early graduates (completers) students will also need a clearance receipt. Deadline for payment and final clearance is Wednesday May 9th. You MUST have clearance from the Budget and Accounting Office. Last day to pay by check is Friday, April 27 th. Last day to pay by card is Monday, May 7 th. Last day to pay by Cash or Cashiers Check Wednesday, May 9 th. Payment for cap and gown is to be paid to Jostens (242-5030). Caps/gowns may be picked up in the wrestling room on Friday, May 11 th, from 9:00 11:30 a.m. after final clearance. SPECIAL NOTES After checkout and senior activities, please do not return to campus except for baccalaureate, graduation ceremonies, or to take care of school business. Remember, underclassmen still have class. Please be considerate of others. LOCKER CLEANOUT: Please do not forget to clean out your locker. A fine will be assessed if the locker has been damaged or is not clean. Remove all pictures, decals, etc. Requests for final transcripts MUST be done through your Naviance account on or before final checkout day 5/11/18. This step is very important, so please do not delay. THIS INCLUDES NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE REQUESTS! ONLY THOSE STUDENTS WHO MEET GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS ESTABLISHED BY THE SCHOOL BOARD WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN GRADUATION CEREMONIES. Lack of prior notification does not override the policy, nor guarantee participation. Disruptive/disrespectful behavior at Graduation may result in withholding the student s diploma and/or law enforcement being notified. 3
Warrior Legacy Night Sunday, May 13, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. - Warrior Gym This is a new twist on what was once a religious ceremony. In an attempt to get more people involved and to participate we are creating Warrior Legacy Night to commemorate and celebrate the journeys you all have taken and to thank and recognize those who have helped you make it to this moment. The ceremony is Sunday evening, May 13 at 5:00 p.m. and will last approximately one hour. Cap and gown will be worn at this ceremony. Schedule: 4:15 p.m. Seniors - report to Auditorium 4:45 p.m. Seniors - line-up and prepare to enter the Warrior Gym 5:00 p.m. Processional Immediately following - Senior Slide show in the Auditorium COMMENCEMENT Monday, May 14, 2018, 8:30 a.m. Stocker Stadium at Lincoln Park Rehearsal: Friday, May 11, 12:00 p.m. 2:00 p.m., CHS Gymnasium - BE ON TIME! Central High School Graduation Ceremony Class of 2018 Commencement ceremonies mark the culmination of a portion of scholastic attainment and are intended to be a memorable occasion. Remembering our role as dignified, mature young adults is the best way we can make the occasion truly impressive. GOWNS: Gowns have been packed very tightly for shipping and will require pressing with a warm iron. Please place gown on hanger after pressing. The wearing of buttons, signs, etc. is prohibited. CAPS: Caps are to be worn with the long point to the back of the head and the short point down on the forehead. The mortarboard should be in a horizontal position on the top of the head, rather than on the back of the head. It is recommended that bobby pins be used to help hold the mortarboard in place. The tassel is worn on the left side until completion of Commencement. Gentlemen, please remove your caps for the playing of the National Anthem. COLLARS: Girls should hook collars in the back of the yoke and fasten each side in front with a small safety pin. The collar is reversible and may be reversed after Baccalaureate in order to have a fresh collar for Commencement. CLOTHING UNDER GOWNS: It is recommended that light weight clothing be worn for both ceremonies, since it may be very warm on the athletic field. SHORTS AND/OR THONG SANDALS ARE NOT APPROPRIATE ATTIRE. QUESTIONS TALK TO SELLDEN OR DOWNEY. BOYS: GIRLS: Shirt, full length slacks, shoes and socks Dress or skirt and blouse, flats or heels BE ON TIME FOR THE LINE-UP. It takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes to check and double check the line-up procession. BEHAVIOR FOR GRADUATION EXERCISES: Students who are identified as under the influence of alcohol or other drug(s) (other than by prescription) shall be banned from ceremonies. Law enforcement will be notified. Diplomas may be held if a student displays inappropriate behavior during the ceremony. DURING THE CEREMONY: Remember that you are easily observed from the stands. Please refrain from talking as you arrive on the field. Special Memories Professional pictures will be taken during Commencement Ceremonies. Seniors will have the opportunity to purchase photos on line through M.J. Thomas. Photographers and people with camcorders will not be permitted inside the fence on the field before or during ceremonies. Please caution friends and relatives who want pictures or videos to remain behind the fence until ceremonies are completed. 5
Central Pride Granite Monument Join the drive for Central Pride. Purchase a commemorative space for your family, your student or alumni. This is a great idea for graduates, past, present and future! Each commemorative space will be engraved in a granite monument wall that is placed in the front of Central High School. For $50, you can show your pride and be a lasting part of Central High.
