Senior Scholarship Tip Financial Aid Information and Applying for Financial Aid University Sponsored Letters of recommendation should be asked for well in advance of scholarship deadlines. Make a list or resume of your activities and awards for 9th - 12th grade so that the writer knows what to include in your letter (a form is available in Counseling to fill out). requiring a portion filled out by your counselor should be submitted to the Counseling Office several days prior to the deadline to assure ample time to have them filled out. Students are required to mail their own scholarship materials unless it is specified that they are to be turned in to the Counseling Office. Find out about financial aid at www.studentaid.gov. Get detailed information on planning and paying for college. Apply for financial aid on the web at www.fafsa.gov beginning January 1, 2016. Applying for the FAFSA is free. Avoid scams by only using the websites listed above. Your chosen college or university may have several university sponsored or private scholarships for incoming freshmen. See the end of this list for Michigan college scholarship information. Apply for the FAFSA beginning January 1 at www.fafsa.gov. Don't miss out on grants, work study and loans. Check your college's website for their deadline for receiving the most financial aid from the FAFSA. Various deadlines. The student must complete the form and return it to SSG before graduation from high school to activate financial eligibility for the program. The student will then receive an "eligibility letter" from SSG. Value: This 2 phase program covers tuition when enrolled in an associate degree or minimum one year certificate program at participating Michigan colleges in Phase I. The program is designed to help student gain admission to transfer institutions of their choice. Senior Matthew Edwards Memorial Scholarship You must either atted a recognized Christian College or major in Criminal Justice. Deadline: 6/24/16. Value: $1,000. Applications are available in the Counseling Office or on the Counseling website. Aspiring Nurse Scholarship Awarded to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates a track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics, and a passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare. Toptal STEM for Women FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Totpal.com will award 12 scholarships to aspiring female computer scientists, developers and software engineers. Every winner will receive $5,000 and a year of weekly one-on-one mentoring by a Toptal senior developer. Check the FIRST website for details on several scholarships. You must participate on a robotics team to qualify (THS has a robotics team). FIRST Participation + Over 180 Scholarship Providers = Over $20 Million in potential Scholarship Opportunities. Discover Student Loans Scholarship You must be 16 or older and a senior in high school planning to attend an accredited non-profit 4 year college or a current college student planning to continue at the aforementioned. Aquinas College Central Michigan University You will be automatically considered for all scholarships for which you are qualified when you apply. Be recognized for your academic & leadership abilities. Awards start at GPA = 2.7+ with extra-curricular activity. Scholarship award criteria starts at GPA 3.0+ and ACT 21+. Complete your admissions application prior to November 15 for priority consideration. The automatic merit scholarships require no further application. Senior Defiance College Eastern Michigan University Ferris State University Grand Valley State University Henry Ford College Scholarship award criteria starts at GPA 2.5+ and ACT 18+. Complete your admission application online at www.defiance.edu. Submit your transcript and ACT or SAT scores. Upon acceptance, students will be notified of the level of scholarship. Additional scholarships are available by competition at Scholars Day on 12/5, 2/6, or 2/13. Invitations will be sent to qualified students. The Education First Opportunity Scholarship is available for students who are admitted by March 1. Qualified students are automatically considered for awards at the time of admission. are automatically awarded to incoming freshmen based on a combination of GPA & ACT. The free FSU admissions application serves as the application for scholarships. Higher test scores can be submitted through the June test date. Other scholarships are available on the FSU website. All undergraduate students who have been accepted to Lawrence Tech are automatically eligible for scholarship review. No additional application is necessary. Funding is limited -- apply early. New student merit scholarships are competitive. The awarding process is based on a complete admission application, including essays, academic merit, talents, level of community involvement and personal accomplishments. Admitted students are automatically considered for scholarships. Students who apply by November 1 of their senior year in high school will receive maximum scholarship consideration. Monroe County Community College Senior MCCC offers many scholarship opportunities to students. All financial need scholarship require the student to apply for the FAFSA. Apply for MCCC scholarships at Academic Works Online Scholarship Information page. You must apply for admission to be considered. Deadline: Around April 1. Northern Michigan University All first-time freshmen students who apply to NMU are automatically considered for the "Excellence, Honors, & Success" awards upon admission. Oakland University Saginaw Valley State University Incoming freshman should apply by March 1 to qualify for academic merit scholarships. You can also download the 2016 and Financial Aid booklet. There is no separate application for merit scholarships, but some awards do require an additional application process. SVSU students are considered for most scholarships based on admission to the university, submission of a scholarship application and completion of the FAFSA form. Apply for admission early. Schoolcraft College University of Detroit-Mercy University of Michigan University of Michigan - Dearborn Accepted students can apply with one application to be considered for all of the scholarships offered for the upcoming school year. See the website for details. More than 90% of undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid including scholarship to help make UDM affordable. To become eligible for UDM scholarships, just apply for admission. Your admissions counselor will discuss your scholarship when an admission decision is made. Senior Wayne State University Western Michigan University WSU offers a variety of merit scholarships based on GPA/ACT scores and application materials. Some awards require submission of the FAFSA form. Students who submit updated test scores will be considered for upgraded scholarship opportunities as long as funds are available. are awarded at the time of admission.
