NCRI ANNOUNCEMENT FOR RESEARCH PROJECTS/SURVEY TO STUDY OF FARMERS RESILIENCE NCRI invites project proposal from the faculty of the university departments to study/survey the farmers resilience from natural and man-made calamities in Costal Andhra, Rayalaseema in Andhra Pradesh and in South Karnataka in Karnataka State. The proposed grant is ` 2,00,000/- for each project and the project duration is for 3 months. 1. An amount of ` 50,000/- will be released on submission of inception report at the end of first month, 2. another ` 50,000/- will be released an completion of field work and report at the end ofsecond month and 3. on submission of final report Rs.1,00,000/- will be released. The study/ survey report will be published by NCRI at NCRI cost. The last date for submission of project proposal is extended upto 28 th March 2018. Eligibility: Faculty from university department having interest to work on Rural Concerns. Guidelines for submission of Research Proposal to study the Farmers Resilience (1).Introduction: India is one of the most disaster prone countries in the world and its major part is exposed to natural and manmade hazards. The unique geo-climatic conditions make the country among the most vulnerable to natural disasters, which occur with amazing frequency and regularity. Some of the common natural disasters that occur in the country are earthquakes, landslides, floods, droughts, cyclones, Tsunamis, wildfires etc. Though disaster affects all sectors of human life, its impact is sever in vital sectors of our development such as agriculture, irrigation, power projects, communication human settlements etc. It is also true that the recurring disasters in the country always eat away the developmental gains made on several fronts, including poverty reduction, health and education. Therefore, in today's climate variant and disaster prone region of the country, it is necessary to develop the livelihoods of rural people sustainable by making them resilient. The National Council of Rural Institutes (NCRI) was set up in 1995 as a catalyst organisation to usher in inclusive growth and strives to promote resilient rural India. NCRI strives to achieve this through higher education interventions programmes offered by universities and autonomous institutions so also supporting rural institutions to take up studies to understand the various challenges and issues faced by the rural communities. (2).Objectives: To promote excellence in research in higher education by supporting research programmes focusing on various challenges faced by the rural communities due to manmade and natural calamities To explore the causes of disasters, risk reduction strategies and resilience building mechanism followed by the rural people in the event of disasters that adversely affected their livelihoods. (3).Eligibility: Permanent faculty members from public funded universities located in the state of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, having interest to work on rural concerns are eligible to apply for the research grant. Interested candidates may apply for the research grant in the proforma at Annexure-I along with a copy of the bio data.

(4).Budget The total budget for the project is ` 2, 00,000/- (5).Nature of assistance: (1)Honorarium to the principal investigator @ ` 30,000/- per month ` 90,000.00 (2) Travel including field visit `.20, 000.00 (3)Payment to research assistant (@` 10,000/- per month for 3 months `. 30,000.00 (4).Contingency expenditure ` 40, 000.00 (5)Miscellaneousincludingstationary `. 10,000.00 (6). Institutional overhead charges @ 5% of the approved budget `. 10,000.00 Total ` 2, 00,000/-. The amount will be released in instalments as detailed below taking into account the performance of the project and through a midterm evaluation. (6). Mode of payment (1) Release of first instalment of ` 1, 00,000/- will be released on submission of inception report at the end of first month. (2) The second instalment of ` 50,000/- will be released on completion of field and submission of progress report at the end of second month. (3) Final instalment of ` 50,000/- will be released on submission of final report and utilisation certificate. (7).Travel and Field Work The amount allocated under the head contingency is to be utilized for the implementation of the ongoing project only. This should not be used for attending conference, seminar, workshop and this amount should also not be used for attending any training course either. The travel/field work is to be undertaken only for data collection and collection of other information such as documents and libraries within the general scope and sphere of the project. (8).Submission of Final Report and Release of Final instalment: The Principal Investigator on completion of the project may submit the final report to the NCRI through Registrar. The final grant of ` 1, 00,000/- will be released on getting the following documents.

i. Two hard bound certified copies of the final report of project work done along with a soft copy to aps@ncri.in). ii. Executive summary of the report. iii. A consolidated Audited Utilization Certificate for the amount actually utilized towards the project iv. The unutilized grant if any may be refunded immediately through demand draft in favour of the Member secretary, NCRI, payable at Hyderabad. It is the responsibility of the Principal Investigator, to submit the final research report on or before the due date approved by the Council. Failure to abide by this rule shall make the Principal Investigator and the Institution liable to refund the entire amount paid by the NCRI. After completion of the project, the study report will be published by NCRI. (9).Duration The duration of the project is for three months and starts from the date of release of first instalment. (10).Sanction of the research Project. A committee constituted by NCRI will scrutinise and recommend the proposal for sanction of the project. Project will be considered on first come first basis and the availability of funds for the scheme. The amount released may be spent according to the approved heads/items within the approved allocation mentioned in sanction letter. (11). Mode of sending the research proposal Interested faculty members may submit the research proposal by furnishing all the required detailed mentioned above including budget details through their respective administrative authority. State the need for the study and areas of concern and state the problem selected for the study clearly. Literature review Review the available literature on relevant topics covering both past and present resources to the extent possible. Objectives of the research Clarify the aims and objectives of the research. Wherever feasible, objectives should be divided into main and subsidiary objectives, and should be numbered.

Hypotheses or research questions If you state hypotheses, indicate whether they are statistical or non-statistical hypotheses. If statistical, indicate at what level of statistical significance they will be accepted or rejected. You may list certain fundamental research questions or underlying assumptions fundamental to your research. Research design and methodology: This is a cornerstone of the research proposal. Under this section, the following aspects need to be furnished (a). Coverage: the proposal should clearly indicate the universe of the study, sampling frame, sampling methods, sampling size and units of observation, etc (b).data Collection: The proposal should indicate sources of data, types of data, tools and techniques for collection of proposed data. (c). Data Analysis: It should indicate the statistical techniques, if any, proposed to be used in data processing, specific packages for data analysis, content analysis, indices/scaling techniques proposed to be used Budget Estimate (Please provide detailed estimate of the budget in a separate sheet. NCRI ANNOUNCEMENT FOR RESEARCH PROJECTS NCRI is proposes small grant of ` 40,000/- to the Faculty/ Research Scholars to study the Rural Health, Rural Education, Rural Communication, Rural Governance, Rural Entrepreneurship and any other Government of India flagship programs like Swachha Bharath and Skill Development focused on Rural Concerns. The project is for 2 months, total grant is ` 40,000/-. It is released on submission of 40 page report along with photos and day wise Rural Engagement Diary for the one month in field. The study will be published as a monograph by NCRI at NCRI cost. The last date for submission of project proposal is exte4nded up to 28 th March 2018. Eligibility: Faculty from University/Colleges who have participated in the NCRI FDPs/NIT/IIT department and Research Scholars (those who have completed Ph. D and those who have submitted Ph. D) and interested to work on Rural Concerns, and ready to stay one month in a village. NCRI strives to achieve this through higher education interventions programmes offered by universities and autonomous institutions so also supporting rural institutions to take up studies to understand the various issues and challenges faced by the rural communities. (1)Objectives: To promote excellence in research in higher education by supporting research programmes focusing on various challenges faced by the rural communities. To undertake small research projects relating to rural concerns with special focus on health, education, communication, governance, entrepreneurship, or any other centrally sponsored flagship programmes relating to water and sanitation and skill development. (2)Eligibility: Academic faculty from university/nit/iit and research scholars ( including those who have been recently awarded PhD degree and those who have submitted PhD thesis ) interested to work on rural concerns so also ready to stay one month in a village. Research proposals are invited from faculty members to take up short duration study on rural concerns and interested candidates may apply in the proforma at Annexure-I along with a copy of the bio data. (3).Budget The total grant of the project is ` 40,000/-. (4).Nature of assistance: (1)Honorarium to the principal investigator @ ` 12000/ per month ` 24,000.00 (2)Travel including field visit ` 6,000.00 (3). Contingency expenditure ` 5000.00 (4). Miscellaneous including stationary ` 5,000.00 Total ` 40, 0000/-. (5). Mode of Payment,

(a).first instalment of ` 20,000/-will be released in the first month on receipt of inception report. (b).on submission of the final research report second and final instalment of ` 20,000/- will be reimbursed to the university. (6).Travel and Field Work The amount allocated under the head travel is to be utilized for the implementation of the ongoing project only. This should not be used for attending conference, seminar, workshop and this amount should also not be used for attending any training course either.
