Ashford University 2015-2016 Academic Scholarships Student Name: Student ID: In recognition of outstanding academic achievements, Ashford University offers academic scholarships: President s; Provost s; Dean s (each a Scholarship, and collectively, Scholarships ). The Scholarships are designed for new students and returning students, for the 2015-2016 Academic Year (AY). These Terms and Conditions ( Terms ) outline the Scholarship award criteria for the Scholarships and the Scholarship renewal criteria applicable to student recipients of a Scholarship for the 2015-2016 AY. Students and parents or guardians who sign this document acknowledge that they understand the award and renewal criteria for Scholarships for the 2015-2016 AY, and agree to be bound by the Terms stipulated herein. The Terms should not be construed by any person as a guarantee that a Scholarship will be awarded or renewed. 2015-2016 General Information and Award Criteria for Recipients of all Scholarships The required cumulative grade point average (CGPA) ranges for each of the 2015-2016 Ashford University Scholarships are set forth in the table below: Cumulative Grade Point Average* Corresponding Scholarship Award Level 3.80 or higher on a 4.0 scale President's Scholarship 3.30-3.79 on a 4.0 scale Provost's Scholarship 3.00-3.29 on a 4.0 scale Dean's Scholarship *Source of measured grade point average is dependent upon student status (new, transfer, or returning). See individual scholarship criteria for definitions at the end of this document. The Scholarships cover tuition only. Books, computers, fees, and room and board will continue to be solely the responsibility of a Scholarship recipient (unless these costs are covered independently by another scholarship). A student s deposit may be applied to these expenses through the student s account. Each Scholarship takes the form of a non-cash credit to Ashford University, and no check or cash payments will be given and/or refunded from any Scholarship award at any time, no exceptions. Students must maintain attendance, and remain in compliance with Ashford University attendance requirements to earn each Scholarship. A scholarship will not be awarded if attendance at Ashford University is not maintained. The 2015-2016 AY Scholarships will be awarded for only one Bachelor s degree. Students who graduate from Ashford University with a Bachelor s degree and are able to utilize these Scholarships at any point during their degree program may not return to Ashford University and pursue a second Bachelor s degree, or a Master s degree, and expect to be awarded the same Scholarships they received for the 2015-2016 AY. The 2015-2016 AY Scholarships will be awarded based on enrollment in any or all of the following terms: fall term, spring term, and Winterim term. The 2015-2016 Scholarships may not be applied to tuition charged for optional enrollment in either a May term or a summer term. Ashford University students who attend in the 2015-2016 AY and receive a President s, Provost s, or Dean s Scholarship will be eligible for scholarship renewal in subsequent year(s) (up to a total of four years) based on their Class Level and meeting the scholarship renewal criteria outlined below. A student s Class Level and the corresponding number of years they may be eligible for a President s, Provost s, or Dean s Scholarship are as follows:

Any award of a Scholarship will be applicable to the start term designated in a student s conditional or full acceptance letter. 2015-2016 Scholarship Renewal Criteria The required cumulative grade point average (CGPA) for each of the 2015-2016 Ashford University Scholarships are set forth in the table below: Cumulative Grade Point Average* Corresponding Scholarship Award Level 3.50 or higher President's Scholarship 3.25 3.49 Provost's Scholarship 3.00 3.24 Dean s Scholarship Students who drop below a 3.00 CGPA at Ashford University are not eligible for any academic Scholarship awards. Students may regain eligibility if their CGPA is 3.00 or above at the end of a subsequent spring semester and would be applicable for the following AY only. Students may be awarded an academic Scholarship up to the level of the original scholarship. Students may not advance Scholarship levels higher than their original awarded Scholarship at Ashford University. Students who drop below the required CGPA for their Scholarship at the end of the fall semester, or who do not meet satisfactory academic progress (SAP) as defined by their degree program, including any period of enrollment in less than twelve (12) credits (full time), will be placed on Scholarship Probation for the subsequent spring semester. Students placed on Scholarship Probation will be notified by Ashford University, and students will be informed of their CGPA at that time and how it could impact their future academic Scholarship awards at Ashford University. General Renewal Criteria for all Scholarship Recipients Student Community Standards Renewal Criteria: Students who are awarded a President s, Provost s, or Dean s Scholarship must be in good standing with respect to the Student Community Standards as outlined in the current Ashford University Academic Catalog. All students, including those awarded academic Scholarships, have a responsibility to comply with all Ashford University policies and procedures. Students found to be in violation of the Student Community Standards at any time in their career as a student at Ashford University risk revocation of any Scholarship awarded at the sole discretion of Ashford University. Academic Leave: Students who withdraw for one semester for an approved Academic Leave will continue to receive the applicable Scholarship upon their return on the approved return date. Students on an Academic Leave must abide by the policies outlined in the current Ashford University Academic Catalog. Drop/Withdrawal and return within one year from Last Date of Attendance: Students who withdraw from Ashford University and return to Ashford University within one calendar year from their last date of attendance will continue receiving their Scholarship at Ashford University, provided the student continues to meet academic criteria and satisfactory academic progress (SAP), and remains in good standing under the Student Community Standards. Readmission process after withdrawal: Students who withdraw from Ashford University and are out of attendance for one or more years from last date of attendance will re-enter, in effect, as a new student and will be subject to the Ashford University Scholarship policies in effect at that time. Any student who drops out of attendance for one or more calendar years may not continue under the 2015-2016 Ashford University Scholarship plan. Re-admitted students will be subject to new admission policies in effect at the time of application. Service members who are called to duty should refer to the current Ashford University Academic Catalog for details on the policies and procedures relating to readmission. President s Scholarship President s Scholarship Description: This Scholarship covers $15,000 toward tuition per academic year, for up to four consecutive academic years from first date of attendance. For the 2015-2016 AY, the cost of tuition is $17,000 per academic year. The amount of the President s Scholarship will not automatically change with any increase in tuition at Ashford University. The cost of books and other fees are not included in this Scholarship. President s Scholarship Award Criteria for New Freshmen and First-Time Freshmen Students: New incoming freshmen students who begin attendance in the 2015-2016 AY at Ashford University must meet a minimum CGPA of 3.80 on a 4.0 scale or higher on their official high school transcript, at the end of the spring 2014 term, in order to be eligible for the President s Scholarship. Freshmen students are defined as students with less than 31 transferable college semester credits. First-Time Freshmen students are defined as students who have not matriculated at another postsecondary institution prior to enrollment, though may have taken courses at such an institution while attending high school. President s Scholarship Award Criteria for New Transfer Students: New transfer students at Ashford University who begin attendance in the 2015-2016 AY must meet a minimum CGPA of 3.80 on a 4.0 scale for all of their prior college coursework combined, as documented on their final college transcripts through the end of the spring 2014 term, in order to be eligible for a President s Scholarship. President s Scholarship Academic Renewal Criteria: In addition to the requirement of meeting the General Renewal Criteria, President s Scholarship recipients who have earned a 3.50 or higher CGPA at Ashford University after Spring 2016 final grades are calculated will have their award renewed for the 2016-2017 AY. The CGPA at Ashford University will be evaluated each academic year at the end of the spring semester for applicability in the following year. President s Scholarship Award Criteria for Returning Students: Returning Ashford University students (those whose last date of attendance is less than one calendar year ago) will be eligible for a President s Scholarship based on their official final Ashford University CGPA at the end of the Spring 2016 semester. For the President s Scholarship, students must have earned a 3.50 or higher CGPA after Spring 2016 final grades are calculated. Provost s Scholarship Provost s Scholarship Description: This Scholarship covers $12,500 toward tuition per academic year, for up to four consecutive academic years from first date of attendance. The amount of the Provost s Scholarship will not automatically change with any increase in tuition at Ashford University. I acknowledge and understand that my signature to these Terms does not guarantee an award of a Scholarship from Ashford University. I further acknowledge and agree that any Scholarship that may be awarded to me in the future is subject to my continued academic progress and adherence to the Student Community Standards and other policies of Ashford University set forth in the current University Catalog, and that any failure to comply with Ashford University policies in accordance with these Terms may result in forfeiture of the Scholarship.
