Membership is open also to claims professionals, legal firms, TPA s, rehab specialists, surveillance professionals, and others offering services to the workers compensation industry. The South Carolina Self-Insurers Association maintains a solid continuing education effort through our quarterly newsletter, a three-day forum in the spring, and a meeting in the fall. Over the years the association has served as an effective voice at the General Assembly and before the South Carolina Workers Compensation Commission on issues affecting our members.

About the Speakers Shelby Arrowood is HR/Safety Supervisor SEN & SEC Districts at UPS Freight Charlotte. Teresa Bartlett, MD is senior vice president and medical director at Sedgwick Claims Management Services. In 2012, Business Insurance named her on its list of Women to Watch. Commissioner Scott Beck, interim chairman, was appointed to the commission July 1, 2008. His term expires June 30, 2014. Mike Chase has served as manager of Turner Padget s workers compensation practice group and as a member of the firm s executive committee. A certified civil court mediator, he is listed in the Best Lawyers in America. John DeLoache is staff attorney for the South Carolina Association of Counties and provides legal assistance to the SC Counties Workers' Compensation and Property & Liability Trusts. Hugh McAngus is a graduate of the University of the South and the University of South Carolina School of Law. A certified mediator, he is named in The Best Lawyers in America and in the 2009 and 2010 editions of South Carolina Super Lawyers. Commissioner Gene McCaskill was appointed to the commission January 3, 2012. His term expires on June 30, 2018. AnnMargaret McCraw is chief executive officer at Midlands Orthopaedics, a partnership of 14 fellowship-trained physicians supported by a staff of more than 100 workers. Kelly Murphy is legal counsel for litigation and workers compensation at Roper St. Francis Healthcare system in Charleston. Jay Norris is manager of claims at Duke Energy Corporation and president of the North Carolina Association of Self-Insurers. He manages Duke s workers compensation program in multiple jurisdictions in United States and Canada, with exposure to South American and Australian programs. Commissioner Andrea Roche was appointed to the commission July 1, 2006. In December 2012 she was nominated for another term by Governor Nikki Haley. Commissioner Avery Wilkerson was appointed to the commission July 1, 2008. His term expires June 30, 2014. Commissioner Melody James was appointed to the commission April 26, 2012. Her term expires June 30, 2016. Commissioner Aisha Taylor was appointed to the commission in January 2013 to fill the unexpired term of former Commissioner Derrick Williams. Her term expires June 30, 2014. Commissioner Susan Barden was appointed to the commission on July 1, 2010. Her term expires June 30, 2016. Tosca Walls is a workers compensation claims manager at Companion Third Party Administrators. She is a graduate of Austin Peay State University where she earned a bachelor s in finance & economics.
