Introduction 3 Philanthropy

Many of our clients at UBS see philanthropy as part of their overall wealth planning. Our experienced philanthropy team is here to help ensure that your individual philanthropic goals are achieved. We apply the same rigorous due diligence, monitoring and evaluation to your philanthropy as we would give to your traditional investment portfolio. We believe that philanthropy should be impactful and rewarding. We can guide clients who are new to philanthropy and need to shape their approach or those who want to understand how their philanthropy can achieve as high an impact as possible. Many clients come to us with an idea of what they want to give to and we can offer advice to make their philanthropy even more effective. Philanthropy is often about collaboration; knowing who to work with and who not to. We connect philanthropists to one another who share common goals and introduce them to leading experts in their field of interest. If you would like to enjoy your philanthropy without having to do extensive due diligence or fulfill burdensome administration requirements for giving structures, such as a family foundation, we have our own market leading solutions to help. If you are interested in hearing in more detail about how we can help you to achieve your philanthropic goals then please do not hesitate to contact us or contact your client adviser. We can help you manage your finances and charitable giving in a simple and effective way The (DAF) is an efficient alternative to setting up a family foundation. It is simple in structure and is without the administrative and financial burden that often occurs with a family foundation. From the DAF, you can make donations to UK registered and exempt charities, such as universities, whenever you choose. Setting up your DAF There are no set up fees and no minimum account value to open your DAF. We also take care of all the ongoing administration costs. Your DAF account could be set up within a couple of weeks and your account will be managed in line with your investment approach and objectives. You can give away capital, growth or income or focus on growing the fund to make grants at a later date. Flexibility Your DAF makes it easy to enjoy your philanthropy. You choose when you want to make grants and how much by simply letting your client adviser know. You can pay into your DAF when it suits you to do so. You may be eligible to claim any available tax reliefs when you do pay into your account. However, there are no time constraints on making grants so you can have time to decide where you really want to give money to. You can pay cash into your DAF or transfer qualifying securities. If you choose to donate cash to the DAF you may be able to claim gift aid and tax relief. This enables the DAF to claim the basic tax rate, increasing your charitable donation by 25% with no extra cost to you. Gifts of shares to the DAF will not only be entitled to income tax relief on the value at date of donation, but any gain on donation would not be subject to capital gains tax. We understand that for many clients, privacy is important and they do not want to be approached by charities they have no interest in. This is why we maintain your anonymity when making grants to your chosen charities. If you wish for your name to be disclosed then we can do that too. UBS does not give tax advice. Before making a decision it is recommended to seek the advice of an independent tax or legal consultant. 8 Philanthropy

9 Philanthropy

Involving your family Many clients wish to engage their children with the family wealth and, increasingly, philanthropy is seen as a way to do so. You can name older children to make grants on your behalf from your DAF (grant recommender), meaning it can operate just like a family foundation. Children or siblings can also be named as successors on your account so that you can leave a lasting legacy of your philanthropy. How the DAF works Donation into your DAF from a foundation account or UBS account Your UBS DAF Account Gift Aid from HMRC adds 25% to your donation * All the benefits of your own Foundation with governance and all administration undertaken by UBS Grants to other UK registered charities and exempt charities at any time *UBS does not give tax advice. Before making a decision it is recommended to seek the advice of an independent tax or legal consultant. 10 Philanthropy

Entrepreneurial philanthropy Our value add Effective, impactful philanthropy demands an intimate understanding of the problem you want to solve. But it takes time and resources to establish the facts and monitor and evaluate the results. That s where we come in. At the we can help you achieve your philanthropic goals by connecting you with inspiring entrepreneurs, new technologies, and proven models that bridge a gap preventing children from thriving. We focus on programmes that have the potential to be transformative, scalable and sustainable so that you know you are making a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children. We don t work with the usual suspects. We seek out and offer you the game changers. Working with world-renowned academics, and with the expertise of our highly experienced programme team, we are confident in our programme selection. That s why we fund programmes alongside our clients and will sometimes match fund your donation. All of our administrative costs are covered by UBS meaning we can guarantee that 100% of your donation goes to the programmes. We monitor, measure, and regularly communicate results so you can see or hear first-hand what your money has achieved. 12 Philanthropy

Diversification Impact and sustainability With a global portfolio of programmes you can diversify your philanthropy, reducing their risk of funding programmes that may not work out as expected. When they don t work we tell you. And we learn from it. From programmes that help prevent disease, improve academic standards, use new technology to solve problems, or ensure that children grow up in a safe and loving environment, we can help you change our world for the better. Expertise and experience Our team of highly experienced programme directors, external specialists, and academics apply rigorous selection criteria to ensure we only offer you high-quality, high-impact programmes. Our programmes have been recognised in Forbes, the New York Times, Stanford Innovation Review, by the Clinton Global Initiative, and in the New England Journal of Medicine, to name but a few. Continuous monitoring and evaluation ensure our programmes are achieving the best possible results for the benefit of children, their families and communities. We take a long-term view, and by focusing on programmes that tackle the root cause of a problem, your donation could help deliver a sustainable solution that will have long-term benefits for children and their futures. Access all areas You will receive updates on the impact of your donation. We also provide you with the opportunity to hear directly from our programme partners, giving you the chance to ask questions of those whose programme you have helped to fund. We also offer client field trips to help you understand programmes better. Your philanthropy your choice You can increase your chances of helping get the next great idea off the ground by giving to our programmes. Alternatively, for a donation of 50,000, we can direct your donation to a programme of your choice. For 100,000, we can replicate a programme in a specific geographic region, and for 750,000 we can source and manage a tailor-made programme for you. 13 Philanthropy
