January Board Minutes Chamber of Commerce Meeting January 3, 2018 Present: Amy Fuqua, Erica Hansen, Joelle Knott, Kevin Krull, Simon McKenzie, Connor Peterson, Kirk Peterson, Kim Snavely, Dawn Thompson, and Chamber Director, Marcia Davis Absent: Marcy Brandt, Natalie Janda, Rebecca Thornburg *Meeting was called to order at 5:44p.m. by President, Joelle Knott. *Erica Hansen moved to approve the Secretary minutes and current Treasurer s report as submitted. Dawn Thompson second, motion approved. Old Business Ambassadors: Connor Peterson and Cassandra Thomsen discussed a six month trial to join the chamber. Leaving money in existing six month CD and checking account at this time. Funds will not be commingled with chamber funds. The bylaws are still in effect, and may look to combine Ambassadors and Chamber in the future. Looking for opportunities for Ambassadors and chamber members to work together with annual breakfast, floats, and any other projects. Cassandra pointed out that the Ambassadors have been a committee of Minden Chamber working to host ribbon cuttings, promote Minden in parades & hosting the Appreciation breakfast. Blue Jeans & BBQ: Scheduled for March 23 rd with the Emmet Bower Band at Kearney County Fairgrounds. A deposit of $750.00 has been paid. The second half will be due closer to the event. The committee will meet January 10 th at noon at Pizza Hut to kick off their planning. Simon McKenzie, Joelle Knott, Erica Hansen, Angie Horine, Kirk Peterson, Jeanne Jons and Sally Jurgensmier have volunteered to serve on the committee. Marketing Minden Grant: The grant paperwork has been submitted, and waiting for approval will be announced on January 31, 2018. It is for marketing Minden with Pioneer Village, City of Minden, Chamber, & Opera House working together. There will be a report at the next meeting for the results. New Business Quarterly Lunches: The next lunch is scheduled for Thursday, January 25 th, 2018 at noon. The lunch is sponsored by First Bank & Trust, and will be hosting Luke Poore, KCHS administrator, Dr. Craig, and Dr. Althouse to discuss the renovations of the radiation department and available services. 2018 Goals: Will continue to promote quarterly lunches to facilitate membership and communication with the community. Form a committee to evaluate the street dance and other projects to determine if a One-day BIG event would be a better option for the community. Looking forward to 2019. Some ideas mentioned are a battle of the bands, revive Dog Days, softball tournament, BBQ, water fights, end with beer garden and dance. Looking at options to see if can coincide with alumni activities. Kevin Krull will contact Jenna White and Lindsey Krull about volleyball tournament. General Activity on County Property Permit: When using the courthouse property, a waiver has to be signed, and proof of insurance provided for events. Other Business Marcia Davis is getting ready to send out membership flyers. She also reported that $5000 has been paid towards the fireworks. Committees: Blue Jeans & BBQ meet January 10, 2018 from 12-1 at Pizza Hut. Next Meeting: February 7 th 12-1pm at Cozy Corner Erica Hansen moved to Adjourn, Amy Fuqua seconded.
