Commander s Corner Members, Happy New Year to all!!! The focus for the New Year is Officers for our Post for the 2016-2017 year positions. Our slate of officers needs to be in place by our February meeting. If you are a current officer and are willing to step up and continue to serve in an office, please contact me. If you are not an officer but are willing to learn about becoming one please contact me. We need volunteers to do this or we cannot survive as a Post. Out of our several hundred members there are only about 15 who are willing to give this organization a few hours a month of their time to keep it alive. That is just not enough. Please call me at 748-0650 and we can figure out what would be a good fit for you to help with a few hours a month. Thank you. If you have not already sent in your membership renewal for 2016, please do so as soon as possible. As of Dec. 30 we have 368 AL members and 18 SAL memberships. HELP POST 14 GET TO OUR 2015 MEMBERSHIP LEVEL BY SENDING IN YOUR 2016 MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL NOW: HELP MAINTAIN OUR PAST MEMBERSHIP LEVEL!! It is important that Post 14 members take an active part in THEIR American Legion Post! Please attend the monthly meetings, held the first Tuesday of every month. Doors open at 5:30 PM; dinner at 6:30; meeting at 7:30 PM. BE AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON AT YOUR AMERICAN LEGION POST BY ATTENDING THE MONTHLY POST MEETINGS. At past monthly meetings, we only had around 10 members which is about 2.6% of our membership; would be nice to get at least 10%(about 30 members) of members to show up for monthly meeting!!. Auxiliary Notes Welcome! to a New Year. The Auxiliary would like to see more ladies at our monthly meetings. There is a dinner at 6PM. We socialize during dinner. Occasionally we have a quest speaker after dinner, then we have our meeting. There is a NEW TIME for the Auxiliary meeting. The time is now 7PM, instead of 7:30 PM. We will not have a meeting in January; so hope to see you at the February 2 nd meeting at 7PM. NOTES FROM 2 ND VICE COMMANDER On December 13 th, we hosted a Girls Softball Christmas PARTY. We collected food for the food pantry, it was a great success. On the evening of December 13 th we hosted the Lawrence Police dept. s Christmas party. They had a great time and appreciated the use of our post facility. On Dec. 17 th the Commander s Egg Nog Party was held at Post 14. Our post chef Brian Ayers prepared a delicious ham dinner this same evening. We prepared a new Christmas Tree with ornaments for the lounge, LOOKS GREAT!
