INDIANA FEDERATION OF REPUBLICAN WOMEN SCHOLARSHIPS General Information This is the 34 th year of The Indiana Federation of Republican Women s scholarship awards. The scholarship awards were established in honor of Rainie McCormick, who worked at all levels of Indiana politics from her precinct to state headquarters. Applicants must be Indiana residents, must be attending an Indiana college or university and must be majoring in political science, government, journalism, radio, or television. College sophomores, juniors, and seniors and students enrolled in a Masters Program are eligible for the Indiana Federation of Republican Women Scholarships. Eligible students have until April 30, 2013 to apply. Applications for an Indiana Federation of Republican Women Scholarship award must be made at the club level. Two applicants from each of the nine congressional districts may be nominated for final review by the Indiana Federation of Republican Women Scholarship Committee. These are one-time, non-renewable awards. Preferably, at least one nominee from each district and at least one of the final recipients should be female. Nominees must be majoring in the subjects mentioned above. Consideration will be given to both traditional and non-traditional students. At the club, district, or state level, letters of reference or other background information may be requested in consideration of applicants. Financial need may also be considered but is not required for application or selection. Club presidents should forward their winning application to their IFRW District Director by May 15, 2013. Each District Director, along with the District Chairman or Vice Chairman (female), and one other Federation member from the district appointed by the District Director, may select a maximum of two nominees from the district. Those nominees applications are then sent to, Indiana Federation of Republican Women, Attn: Suzanne Heinzmann, Scholarship Chair, Indiana Federation of Republican Women, 47 South Meridian Street, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204 NO LATER THAN June 1, 2013. The Federation will award up to two $1,000 scholarships. Winner(s) will be notified by July 1, 2013 and the money will be presented in time for the 2013 fall term. Some colleges and universities apply half the scholarship award in the fall term and the remaining half in the spring term. When the Scholarship fund was established, the Indiana Federation set a goal of $10,000. That goal was successfully attained. To maintain the goal, contributions must be made each year by individuals and groups in honor or memory of friends, relatives, and political or business associates. In addition, many IFRW clubs make an annual contribution to this worthy project. Contributions should be mailed to the scholarship fund in care of the Indiana Federation of Republican Women, Attn: Marsha Carrington, 47 South Meridian Street, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Make checks payable to the IFRW Scholarship Fund. Thank you for your participation!
