Evidence Based Practice Projects Nurses bring a wealth of information to this partnership by identifying problem areas amenable to research, having the opportunity to develop their program of research, expanding their research skill sets with new designs, and sharing their results locally, nationally, and internationally to positively impact healthcare delivery in a variety of settings and patient populations. 2017 Projects Emergency Department Nurse Manager Intentional Rounding Co-principal Investigators: Leina Duchai, RN, Bradley Kuo, APRN & Christina Bonifacio, RN The purpose of this study was to describe the impact of Emergency Department Nurse Manager intentional rounding using a unit specific checklist on patient experience and ED RN staff satisfaction. The Impact of a Nurse Navigator on Colorectal Surgery Pathway Patients Co-principal Investigators: Kelsie Bordonada, RN, Maria Zucker, APRN, Sharon Davo-Otomo, RN & Hang Saito, APRN The purpose of this study was to determine if dedication of a nurse navigator improves patient adherence with a postsurgical pathway and influences length of stay, surgical site infections, and readmission rates in patients with elective colorectal surgery.

Hula Used to Lower Stress through Activity (HULA Study) Co-principal Investigators: Jan Takara, RN, Grace Schonhardt, APRN & Charness Lam, RN The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of standard of care aerobic exercise and traditional hula dance on diabetes distress and well-being in adult patients with Type I & II diabetes. 2014 Projects Impact of a Diabetes Intervention on Diabetes Distress and Glycemic Control in an Asian Pacific Islander (API) Population Co-principal Investigators: Naomi Fukuda, MSN, APRN and Anne Leake, PhD, APRN The purpose of this study was to describe the level of diabetes distress in an multi-ethnic population with diabetes, evaluate if a diabetes intervention would help lower the diabetes distress level, and evaluate if a lower diabetes distress level would improve glycemic control. (Manuscript in preparation) Impact of a Surgical Intensive Care Unit Progressive Mobility Program on Delirium Co-principal Investigators: Rose Hata, MS, APRN, CCRN, CCNS and Lois Han, BSN, RN, CCRN The purpose of this project was to implement and evaluate the impact of a mobility program on delirium in surgical intensive

care unit patients.
