Issue 3 2014-2015 President s Greetings William Butler Yates said, "There are no strangers here; only friends you haven't met yet." I have found this to be so true of our organization. UNOWC continues to offer new opportunities to network with members from across campus. For me, getting the chance to see the inner-workings of UNO on occasion through events on campus, has allowed me to meet even more amazing people and students. Both of these groups continue to impress me with their commitment to this university. The dynamic academic programs, research, service groups, student groups, and faculty and staff that inspire and make the magic happen and provide leadership enrich our community. Serving as UNOWC President this year has been a great opportunity for me to meet new friends with a love for the University and I thank you for allowing me to represent your group. A few reminders, please remember to check your calendars and RSVP to one of our remaining programs as detailed in this issue of our newsletter. Both events will provide another opportunity to learn a bit more about two areas In this issue: Registration Info for April 25 th Event UNOWC Woman of the Year Nomination Form Interest Groups Photos: CCSW Basket Fundraiser for UNO Employees Emergency Loan Fund with which you may be unfamiliar at UNO: the UNO Office of Military and Veterans Services and Glacier Creek. Thank you, Gina Pearson and Mary Bernier, for coordinating these events. Also, a link to the UNOWC scholarship application is now available on our web page. The application deadline is May 31 so please encourage students with whom you are in touch to apply. Thank you, Janet Pol, for coordinating our scholarship activities. Thanks to all of you who contributed to the basket-building shower for the basket auction fundraiser on February 7th. I'm especially pleased to let you know that, through our contributions, the Chancellor s Committee on the Status of Women was able to raise $2,119 this year, an increase of over $900 from last year! This money will go directly to the UNO Employee Loan Fund. One final thank you to the leadership team. I consider myself lucky to have such an amazing group of women to learn from, laugh with, work with, and share special times with. Mary Bernier, Laraine Conway, Carole Langan, Anne Carroll, Patti Gregor, Ann Newton, Janet Pol, Kathy Blanke, Gina Pearson, and Elaine Allen - on behalf of the members, we appreciate you all for the work you do for UNOWC!
