Foundational Training in Trauma-Informed Care Thursday, August 2, 2018 Alnoba 24 Cottage Road Kensington, NH 03833 8:30 am -3:30 pm The growing awareness of the pervasiveness and effect of trauma physiologically & psychologically on individuals as well as on relationships and communities has led to the development of both trauma-informed and trauma-specific services. Human service systems such as healthcare, justice, and schools become trauma-informed by helping staff to: 1) realize both the prevalence of adverse experiences and the specific neurobiological mechanisms of recovery and resilience, 2) recognize the indications of trauma in clients and systems and avoid re-traumatizing or pathologizing these signs of distress, and 3) apply this knowledge to practice by making changes to procedures and policies. Target Audience: This workshop is an advanced professional development opportunity for professionals seeking to become trauma competent and to develop trauma-informed systems of care in their own agencies/organizations. Sponsored by Region 6 Integrated Delivery Network Learning Objectives: Describe the fundamentals of social neuroscience Discuss trauma-informed principles, policies and practices There is no fee to participate for those in IDN 6(Strafford County & Western Rockingham County).
