Richland High School Instrumental Music Program Visit us at www.rhsimb.org Dear Parent/Guardian: The RHS Instrumental Music Boosters (IMB) welcomes you and your student(s) to the 2017-2018 Richland High School Instrumental Music Program. Included in this letter you will find information about the Bomber Marching Band, fees associated with all music programs, fundraising opportunities for your planning purposes, as well as contact information for key IMB board members. Welcome to our organization! Jason Rose Instrumental Music Director Kent McDonald IMB President Bomber Marching Band: All students are welcome in the Bomber Marching Band! The summer months are an extremely active time for our marching band students. This year s Marching Band Camp will be held from August 14 th 18 th (8AM-3PM) and August 21 th 25 th (3PM-9PM) at RHS. There will be a break for meals. The students will spend each day learning to march, memorizing music, and learning their specially designed show. Marching band members must report to the band room at 7:30 AM on August 14th: o Marching Band music!!! o Instrument including extra reeds, etc. o Lunch (or money to eat out), water bottle Please bring the following by August 18 th : o Contact Information Form (included in this letter) o Anti-Hazing Agreement (download from the RHS website) o First Aid form, Uniform/Concert Attire form, Food form o Completed sports physical (download from the RHS website)* *Physicals from other organizations (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc. within the past year) are also accepted if they do not expire during the marching season. Physicals must be turned in directly to Mr. Rose. There will be a Parent meeting held on Monday, Aug. 21rd at 6:30 pm in the Auditorium. Mr. Rose and members of the IMB will inform parents/guardians about Marching Band, fundraising

and answer any questions. The camp will conclude with a BBQ on Friday evening, Aug 25 th, notice of location will be given during camp, for the students and their families. Our students will present what they have learned over the two-week camp! Student Leadership: Marching Band success is greatly dependent on the student leadership team chosen by Mr. Rose, coaches and staff. We expect the students to take charge of the program and look to Mr. Rose for guidance when needed. Members will be contacted by their section leader very soon (if they have not been already) and arrangements for regular group sectionals over the summer will be made. Competition October 20 Bombers vs. Chiawana Riverhawks 7pm Football Game October 21 Harvest Festival @ Yakima Competition October 27-28 Pullman Competition October /November (TBA) Stadium Echoes Concert Concert November 11 West Richland Veterans Day Parade Parade **Please keep in mind: There may be Football playoffs that MB/Pep Band will perform at** Fundraising: Throughout the year, the IMB offers opportunities for students to participate in fundraising. We strongly encourage students to take advantage of these fundraisers as the money earned stays with the student until the student graduates and then can be transferred to a sibling/selected student or camp scholarship fund. Funds can be used to pay most of the music fees, except tuxedo shirts, cummerbunds and ties. The first fundraiser is our most successful and profitable. Students sell Fuji apples and one other type of apple (TBA), beginning in September. Students have earned as much as $1,000 selling apples. While fees are important for making the music program happen, we don t want the fees to be the reason a student does not participate in music. Any family who may struggle with the fees are encouraged to contact Mr. Rose to work out a good solution.
