Celebrating Community At All Saints Catholic School Volume 3, Issue 17 December 19, 2016 No Buses, No Early Childhood, Early Dismissal on Friday Nativity Night Tuesday! All Saints is hosting Nativity Night on Tuesday, Dec. 20. Please arrive at 6:45 p.m. The evening will begin with a Las Posadas-style procession, commemorating the journey of Mary and Joseph leading up to Jesus birth. After the procession, attendees can enjoy hot cocoa, cookies, crafts, story time, and the viewing of families Nativity sets. There will also be a choir performance and live background music. As with last year s event, students will be invited to dress as angels and shepherds as part of the procession. This annual tradition is a wonderful way for the All Saints community to come together and pause as we prepare for Jesus birth. There is no cost for families to attend. To help us anticipate the number of guests, please RSVP online at allsaintscs.com/nativity. We ask each family to bring a dozen cookies to share during the event so everyone can enjoy treats with hot cocoa. Cold Weather Reminders With the colder weather arriving this past week, here are just a couple of reminders for our families to keep in mind during the winter months: Students still go outside for recess if the temperature is above 10-degrees fahrenheit, so please dress them in warm gear. All ASCS safeties must wear warm clothes outside on duty. They are outside much longer than normal and it is a good example for other students. Please do NOT drop off your students prior to the doors opening at 7:50 a.m. With no adult supervision and freezing temperatures, it is not safe for students to be outside. Share the Date... New Family Open House All Saints recognizes our current families are our biggest cheerleaders when it comes to spreading the good news about everything happening within our community. In the weeks ahead, we will be sending a special open house email to you which will include an invitation and the necessary referral form for you to invite any non-ascs families to our open house event. Our New Family Open House is from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m on January 29, 2017. We hope you will invite your family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues to tour our school. Don t forget about our Partners In Faith Referral Program, which rewards you with a one-time $500 incentive for each new K-8 family who joins the All Saints family using this referral form. Forms can be found at www.allsaintscs.com/refer. Save the Date: Saturday, March 4, 2017 Algebra Threads Needle... Each year it warms Mrs. Porosky s heart to see our young men in Algebra trying to thread their needles. String art is a wonderful project of following directions and creativity. It gives the students a break from the rigor of their daily studies. Later in the year, extra credit will be offered to those that may want to come up with their own patterns and directions. From the pictures you can see the look of concentration and determination on all of their faces. Their finished products are beautiful and will be in the hall if you want to take a closer look. They did a great job. Kindergarten Goes On Safari our kindergarten classes spent time studying Africa and even went on an African Safari with our very own Mrs. Shore! With their binoculars in hand, students checked out animals in their habitats as well as answered questions about their studies!
