Guest Speaker Mrs. Jennifer Camille King Order of Ceremony Jennifer Camille King is a committed, compassionate, caring nurse practitioner who is passionate about the pursuit of excellence and who has always given distinguished service. She believes in the provision of quality care and competent and safe practice at the highest possible standard. Her basic training began in 1981 at the Department of Nursing Education, Nassau, from which she received the Registered Nurse (RN) Diploma. She was a member of the first class to be awarded a Diploma in Midwifery from the College of The Bahamas (now ) in 1995 where she went on to complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with Distinction in 2005 and receive the BSN Award and Award for Academic Excellence in Nursing as well as the President s Award. She currently holds a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration with First Class Honours (2008) and continues to pursue short courses and attend sessions, seminars and conferences. Nurse King is a member of the National Association of School Nurses, the Midwives Association of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and has served as Secretary, then Chairperson, of the National Nurses Recognition Committee (2003-2007). She has been actively involved in the Nurses Association of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas (NACB) since 1983 as a nursing student. She later served as Secretary (2006-2010) and has represented the NACB at regional and international conferences. Among other awards, in 2017 she received a Zenith Award for her contribution to the Advancement of the Nursing Profession. Nurse King has worked at the Princess Margaret Hospital; the Department of Public Health (Abaco) and as Nursing Student Liaison Officer in the Office of the Director of Nursing. She retired from the Public Service in 2011, after thirty years of dedicated and distinguished service. She now serves as the School Nurse at her alma mater, St. John s College, where she cares for and counsels students. Additionally, she is the facilitator of the St. John s Nursing Cadet Programme where she mentors participants in the importance of maintaining high standards and pursuing excellence. She volunteers her Nursing expertise and time in the community at various events as well as at her church. Nurse King has been married to Clement D. King for the past thirty-one years and together the couple has four children: Yasmin, Simone, Sinclair and Jeremy and two sons-in-law, Ethan and Donteil.
