The WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION met in regular session on July 25, 2017, at the Board s central office located at 1210 13th St., Parkersburg, West Virginia. I. President Hasbargen called the meeting to order at 6:30 II. The roll was called and were present President Hasbargen and members Ron Tice, Eric Tennant and Peggy Smith. Mr. Asbury was not present. III. Discussion of conference Items: recognition of delegations and individuals; presentation and consideration of reports, proposals, petitions, etc., and messages from the Superintendent. A. Presentation of Parent Educator Resource Center (PERC). Yvonne Santin B. Discussion of student attendance rate. Chris Rutherford/Keith Palmer/Ken Cook C. Discussion of English Learner teaching position. Christie Willis Item C was stricken from the agenda. D. Discussion of need for additional administrator at Blennerhassett Elementary. Justin Hartshorn Item D was stricken from the agenda. IV. Public Discussion and Comments Betsy Patterson, principal of Parkersburg South High School made comments. V. Presentation of Items for Consideration and Action. A. It was moved by Mr. Tennant and seconded by Mrs. Smith to dispense with the reading and approve Minutes from the July 11th and 18th, 2017 meetings. 1 7.25.17

As per Mr. Francisco, Human Resources Director, a teacher was rescinding her resignation and asked that a motion be made to strike that item from the agenda. Mrs. Smith moved to strike the resignation of Kylie Kibble from Hamilton Middle. Mr. Tice seconded the motion. B. It was moved by Mrs. Smith and seconded by Mr. Tennant to approve personnel matters and positions that may be considered for action on our agenda (after the deletion of one item). As per Whitni Kines, Finance Director, budget transfers will now be called cash transfers. Mr. Tice moved to change the wording, Mr. Tennant seconded the motion. C. It was moved by Mr. Tice and seconded by Mr. Tennant to approval of (cash) budget transfers in the amount of $3,652,121.31. D. It was moved by Mrs. Smith and seconded by Mr. Tennant to approve payroll & related disbursements in the amount of $1,554,715.84. E. It was moved by Mr. Tennant and seconded by Mr. Tice to approve Jacob and Joshua Morton, Wood County residents, to attend Ritchie County Schools for the 2017- school year. 2 7.25.17

F. It was moved by Mrs. Smith and seconded by Mr. Tennant to approve Emily Huffman, Jackson County resident, to attend Wood County Schools for the 2017- school year. G. It was moved by Mr. Tennant and seconded by Mr. Tice to approve Jacob and Joshua Brannon, Wood County residents, to attend Ritchie County schools for the 2107- school year. H. It was moved by Mr. Tice and seconded by Mr. Tennant to approve Reilly Hendershot, Wirt County resident, to attend Wood County Schools for the 2017- school year. (This is a renewal.) I. It was moved by Mrs. Smith and seconded by Mr. Tennant to approve Zane Gherke, Director, Technology & Management Information Systems, effective August 2, 2017 Mr. Tice asked Mr. Francisco about Mr. Gherke s qualifications. Mr. Francisco noted all of Mr. Gherke s many qualifications in the field of technology and education. J. It was moved by Mr. Tice and seconded by Mr. Tennant to approve invoices in the amount of $992,873.45. Mr. Francisco thanked Mr. Tice for noticing that the invoices were not included on the original agenda, therefore item J is an addendum. 3 7.25.17

VI. Policy Issues: A. The following policies will be placed on public comment July 26, 2017: 5141.2 Pediculosis 5140.1 Health Promotion and Disease Prevention B.
