The Campground Facility: Band Camp will be held at Charis Camp and Conference Centre, 51935 Hack Brown Rd, Chilliwack, BC V4Z 1L1, 83 kilometers from school. The camp has been expanding each year; many buildings are new or newly refurbished. All camp facilities are in excellent condition. Students will be lodged in groups of about 8 with a parent chaperone responsible for them. The camp has amazing chefs on staff providing high quality, enjoyable, and healthy meals/snacks. They will do their best to accommodate allergies and dietary requirements. Please indicate on the registration form any medical conditions, including allergies, your child has. Activities: Students must participate in all activities. Specific Instrument breakouts with a specialist hired to coach your child on their instrument. They are professional performers, band directors or private instructors from the Music community. Your child will receive four high quality one-hour sessions. Band Rehearsals for each grade. Students have focused opportunities to learn together with their band several times during this weekend to jump-start their year. Recreation and Team building activities such as our famous Night Ninja games and Glow-worm relays Evening Chapels. Students and faculty lead worship times. Some staff members will speak to the students and share from their lives to encourage students in their faith. Morning Devotions with the whole camp start off the day. 2
First Aid: There is a qualified First Aid attendant on site at all times (usually a parent who is a nurse, doctor, or certified paramedic). For minor scrapes or abrasions, qualified parent volunteers will hand out band-aids. Any other first aid emergencies will be directed to the First Aid attendant. All medications must be handed in to the First Aid attendant prior to the camp. If you anticipate your child will need medication on the trip, please indicate so on the registration form. At no time are students allowed to self-medicate. Thank you so much for supporting your child s instrumental music education, and for your involvement in this major musical annual event! Each MS graduation, students routinely list band camp as a highlight to their Middle School experience! A detailed itinerary will follow in September. Please feel free to contact me in the meantime at the address below should you have any questions: ahardie@pacificacademy.net Sincerely, Aaron Hardie Pacific Academy Middle School Band Instructor 3
