Target Audience This conference is designed for educators in all practice settings, including practitioners, clinicians, nurse educators, public health nurses, school nurses and other health care providers who are teaching students. The program provides the latest information on successful teaching/ learning strategies to enhance learner outcomes for success in classroom and clinical settings. Exhibitor Opportunities Exhibitors are invited to display their products and services. Refreshments will be provided in the exhibit area for maximum exposure to attendees. Lunch will be provided to both attendees and exhibitors on March 11 & 12. Exhibits and poster presentations open Sunday evening, March 10th, during a networking reception. Registration Deadline The registration deadline for this conference is February 24, 2019. Since registration and hotel rooms are limited, please register early. We anticipate our block of rooms to completely sell out. Call for availability after February 24th. Confirmation will only be sent if your registration form and payment are received two weeks before the conference begins. Call for Posters Consider submitting a poster related to teaching in a clinical or classroom setting, preceptor and mentoring projects or other topics related to nursing education of students and staff. LEARNING FACILITATORS Michele Deck, RN, BSN, M.Ed, LCCE, FACCE Michele is known for her innovative teaching methods in the field of health care education and training. She has been training educators and trainers full time for the last twenty years. She acted as a consultant to Creative Training Techniques International, Inc. and was named Best Over All Trainer by the Creative Training Techniques Companies. She has won the prestigious Excellence in Nursing has also been selected as one of the Great 100 Nurses in Louisiana and was elected to Sigma Theta Tau National Nursing Honor Society. The National Nursing Staff Development Organization named her the recipient of the prestigious Belinda Puetz award in 2000. She was named Business Woman of the Year for 2003 by the National Business Council. She received the Margaret L. Messore Lectureship award from the Magnolia Chapter of SUNA in 2004. The National Business Council also awarded her the Ronald Regan Medal of Freedom in 2004. Donna Iggy Ignatavicius, MS, RN, CNE, ANEF Founder of Boot Camp for Nurse Educators, Donna is internationally recognized as a content expert in nursing education, including expertise in NCLEX -style test writing, analysis, and curricular mapping. Through her consulting company (DI Associates, Inc.), she has successfully helped many nursing programs throughout the U.S. and Canada improve their licensure pass rates and revise curricula. A prolific author, Donna is working on the 10th edition of her number one selling nursing textbook, Medical-Surgical Nursing: Patient Centered Collaborative Care. In recognition of her contributions to nursing education, she was inducted as a charter NLN Fellow of the Academy of Nursing Education in 2007. Barb Bancroft, RN, MSN, PNP Barb is a widely acclaimed international nurse educator and speaker, noted for her humorous, entertaining and information packed seminars. She is author of four books her latest, Kiss My Asparagus, An Essential Guide to Nutrition s Role in Health and Disease. Barb has provided more than 3000 seminars throughout the US and Canada. She has provided courses on Advanced Pathophysiology, Pharmacology and Physical Assessment to both graduate and undergraduate students. This tour will have you exploring the Civil Rights Movement from the 1800 s to present day through an intricate series of galleries. You will leave the seminar with a plethora of practical pearls that can be applied to your patients in the hospital, in the primary care facility, or in the ICU. The WBC and differential is discussed as it relates to viral infections, bacterial infections, and parasitic infections. Iron deficiency anemias will be differentiated from B12 and folic acid anemias and, Barb will give you some helpful hints for patients with lead as a cause of anemia. The lipid profile will be discussed as will liver function tests and clinical correlations.
