Alpha Kappa Alpha Alpha Program Objectives & Goals of the Parade of Pearls Pageant To promote the empowerment of young ladies, led by our example PARADE OF PEARLS PAGEANT --To promote high ideals & character building --To promote social graces & good citizenship --To develop new friendships, provide volunteer service, engage in structured leadership, etiquette, & educational workshops that will enhance their educational & social skills PARADE OF PEARLS: PAGEANT GUIDELINES A. Contestants must be between the ages of five and fourteen. B. A non-refundable entry fee of $50.00 is required by all contestants. Entry fee must be paid by May 13, 2017. C. The contestant who raises the most money will be crowned Queen of the pageant. D. Each contestant must raise a minimum of $500.00 in order to participate in the actual pageant. E. The court will be comprised of the Queen, 1 st runner-up, and 2 nd runner-up. F. The pageant will consist of three categories. 1. Girls ages 5-7 will compete for Little Miss Pink & Green 2. Girls ages 8-11 will compete for Junior Miss Pink & Green 3. Girls ages 12-14 will compete for Teen Miss Pink & green G. Little Miss, Junior Miss, & Teen Miss Pink & Green will be based on appearance, poise, personality, talent, and communication skills. The contestants will be interviewed on stage. H. In order to maximize the pageant experience, contestants are encouraged to attend a minimum of 50% of pageant workshops/activities. I. In order to participate in the opening act, contestants must attend the opening act rehearsal. Time, place and dates to be determined. In the event that a contestant is unable to make a rehearsal, please notify the pageant chairman as soon as possible. J. Parents will be given information sheets to complete and return to the pageant chairman by the specified date. K. All ads & ad money for the pageant s souvenir book must be submitted by August 12, 2017. Participants do not have to wait until the actual due date to turn in ads and ad monies. This can be turned in as money and ads are received. Receipts will be issued for all money turned in. L. All other money raised for the pageant must be submitted no later than August 31, 2017.

Annual Tea A. All contestants, parents, guardians, and family members are encouraged to attend the Tea, which will be held at least one month prior to the pageant providing it is financially feasible. The date/ time of the tea is TBA. B. All contestants will be required to wear Sunday s Best to the Tea. Pageant A. Contestants must wear an uninterrupted long, floor length, white gown (No strapless, halters, low cut, or backless gowns) and white, clear, or silver shoes. B. The pageant will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017. The time of the pageant will be announced at a later date. C. In addition to her gown, each contestant must bring an outfit of choice to model for the judges and an outfit for the talent portion of the pageant. D. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the pageant. Tickets are $5.00 per person. Each contestant will be given one souvenir journal. Additional souvenir journals can be earned for each additional increment of $500.00 raised. Participants are to sell tickets which will go towards their funding. E. Photography is allowed. However, neither the Foundation nor the sorority are responsible for collecting fees and or distributing photos. Workshop Activities The contestants will receive the date, time, and place of each activity from the pageant chairman.

Our chapter has been a consistent and visible presence in Ascension, St. James, St. John the Baptist, and West Baton Rouge Parishes. Phi Sigma Omega s vision is to become the preeminent community service organization in the parishes that we serve by providing quality programs that fall under the International Program Initiatives and that meet the needs of the community. We are both passionate and excited to implement our community based programs which include our ASCEND Youth Enrichment Program.
