She previously served in Governor Tim Kaine s policy office. Jennie grew up in Alexandria. Delp, Principal Fallon Park Elementary School, Roanoke City Public Schools Cynthia Delp is a University of Virginia graduate, with a passion for urban education, she has led Fallon Park Elementary for over ten years and the school has been recognized by the National Center for Urban School Transformation as one of the top urban schools in the nation. The school has also been recognized in the book, "Teaching Practices from America's Best Urban Schools" published by Eye on Education. She has been recognized by University of Virginia's Curry School of Education as an Outstanding Principal for excellence in administration, professional stature, dedicated service and career contribution. Thursday, October 2, 2014 11:45 a.m. 12:45 p.m. 12:45 p.m. 1:30 p.m. LUNCH SOL Innovation Committee: An Opportunity for Higher Education to Contribute to the Redesign of Virginia s K-12 Assessment System The Standards of Learning Innovation Committee will be charged with making recommendations to the Board of Education and the General Assembly on ways to further reform SOL assessments, student growth measures, and encourage innovative teaching in the classroom. Dr. Walther-Thomas and Sue Magliaro are the two representatives from institutions of higher education. Chriss S. Walther-Thomas, Dean & Professor, School of Education, Virginia Commonwealth University Dr. Christine S. Walther-Thomas became dean of the VCU School of Education in June 2012. Before coming to VCU, Dr. Walther-Thomas led the Department of Special Education at the University of Kansas, ranked number one among special education graduate programs in the country. As a principal investigator, she has received more than $13 million in state and federal grant awards for research, personnel development and training/technical assistance to public schools, and she is the author of more than 50 articles, book chapters and technical reports. She co-authored a book titled Collaboration for Inclusive Education: Creating Successful Programs Sue Magliaro, Professor, School of Education, Virginia Tech Dr. Susan Magliaro is a professor of education specializing in Educational Psychology. She earned an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Educational Psychology from Virginia Tech. Dr. Magliaro is the former dean of the School of Education at Virginia Tech. She has co-authored four books and more than 50 book chapters, refereed journal articles, and reports. Ginsberg, Dean & Professor, College of Education, George Mason University Chair-Elect, Executive Committee, AACTE Dr. Ginsberg's career spans more than a 30-year period as a professor, psychologist, and as a skilled administrator. He has published extensively in the areas of education, psychology, human development, and human services.
