a Hero can be Anyone - batman Superhero Poster/Essay Contest Sponsored by Home Nursing Agency Healing Patch The Home Nursing Agency Healing Patch is sponsoring a poster and/or essay contest to help raise awareness about childhood grief. The purpose of the contest is to exhibit Home Nursing Agency Healing Patch s efforts to increase community awareness about the needs of grieving children, while highlighting the importance of educational programs through the tragic loss experienced by a childhood Superhero Batman. FACT 1 in 9 Americans will lose a parent to death by the age of 20; 1 in 7 will lose either a parent or a sibling. Unknown by many, Batman evolved after a young Bruce Wayne witnessed both of his parents being murdered. Thus, Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman, was a child significantly impacted by grief. Batman, the only superhero without any superpowers, battled many internal and external struggles of good vs. evil, but ultimately chose to conquer evil and make the world a better place so that others did not have to endure the tragedy he faced. We are inviting the 4th and 5th grade students at your school to participate in either the poster contest Create Your own Superhero or the essay contest What Batman Means to Me or perhaps both! The students that participate in the contest will be judged against other students from local participating school districts. Information and the entry forms regarding the contest can be downloaded from the Home Nursing Agency web site: www.homenursingagency.com/resources/superhero-contest The contest submission period opens on Monday, September 29th and closes on Friday, October 31st, when all entries must be submitted to Home Nursing Agency Healing Patch. Winners will be contacted on Wednesday, November 5th and awards will be distributed prior to the Legends of the Knight documentary premiere on Friday, November 7th at Saint Francis University.
