.. September.. February July Fourth Independent Company Ohio Volunteer Cavalry. THREE YEARS' SERVICE. This Company was organized at Georgetown, Ohio, each man furnishing his own horse and horse-equipments. It was mustered into the service 1861, at Georgetown, by George Silligatt, Aid-de-camp and Mustering Officer. On the lotli it left for Camp Chase, where it remained until August 19, when it was ordered to Missouri. On March i, 1862, it was taken into St. Louis and placed on duty at General Halleck's headquarters, and acted as his escort until he was transferred to Washington. The Company was then engaged in miscellaneous service until July 16, 1S64, when the original members were mustered out at Cincinnati, Ohio, by reason of expiration of term of service. The recruits, aljout fifty in number, were left at General McPherson's headquarters, and in August and September, 1864, John L. King, who had been a Sergeant in the original organization, recruited the Company to the maximum number and was commissioned Captain. This Company participated in the march to the sea through Georgia, in the campaign in the Carolinas, and was present at the Grand Review at Washington City. It was mustered out May 28, 1S65, at Washington, D. C, by W. C. Ide, Captain 13th Infantry, and Acting Commissary of Musters. The official list of battles, in which this Company bore an honorable part, has not yet been published in orders by the War Department, but the following list has been prepared, after a careful research, during the preparation of this work: SILVER CREEK, RANDOLPH CO., MISSOURI, Januarys, 1862.
