ARIZONA ALLEGIANCE HONORARY CONSTITUTION & BYLAWS Effective February 20, 2010 ARTICLE I Name 1. The name of this organization shall be ARIZONA ALLEGIANCE HONORARY (AAH). 2. The organization is a student organization at the University of Arizona. ARITLCE II Purpose 1. To be an advocate for the Athletics Department s philanthropic arm, the Wildcat Club. 2. Market and encourage membership in the Student Wildcat Club (SWC) 3. Provide service to the University and the Athletics Department. 4. To provide fellowship among students, student-athletes and sports teams by supporting them at various athletic events. 5. Demonstrate and encourage others to create a positive image of sportsmanship when supporting the Arizona Wildcats. 6. Motto: Supporting the Athletics Department through the Student Wildcat Club and Sportsmanship ARTICLE III Responsibilities 1. To attend as many revenue sporting events as possible, including, football, men s and women s basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball, soccer, and gymnastics. 2. To represent your organization, the University and the Athletics department with pride, enthusiasm and loyalty. 3. Must be a paid member of the Zona Zoo and the Student Wildcat Club 4. To encourage and promote the Student Wildcat Club, increasing membership each year. 5. Each member is responsible for signing up 20 students each year for the Student Wildcat Club by December of that academic year. 6. Members hold the banner at the football games. 7. To attend and assist at University events as specified by the Athletics Department Advisor. 8. To attend and assist in community related activities as specified by the Athletics Department Advisor. 9. To abide by all rules, regulations, and policies governing Arizona Allegiance Honorary and the Athletics Department. ARTICLE IV Membership Section I. Membership 1. Any student at the University of Arizona is eligible to be an active member and may hold office. 2. Non-students may act as associate members, but may not vote or hold office. 3. Organization will consist of up to 50 members and no less than 20 members 4. Executive Board and Athletics Department Advisor may reduce or add members to the program at their discretion. And has the right to dismiss members who do not fulfill the requirements for membership. 5. Members are required to attend all meetings and events. 6. Any student at the University of Arizona maintaining a standing of second semester freshman or higher is eligible to be considered for membership and may hold office.
7. Members must be enrolled as full-time (12 undergraduate units or 6 graduate units) matriculating students at The University of Arizona. 8. Members must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 Section II. Selection of Members 1. All members are required to complete a selection process approved by the Athletics Department Advisor. 2. Advertisements for AAH will be made in a timely fashion. 3. Membership Recruitment will be held in the Spring of each academic year. 4. Members will be chosen based on, but not limited to: Interview, Presentation, Spirit, Enthusiasm, Ability to Market and Sell Membership. Section II. Election of Officers Elections of officers shall take place at the first meeting after selection of members for the next year. Officers include: 1. President - Preside over all meetings, oversee all activities and serve as ambassador for the club. Meets regularly with Advisor. 2. Vice President of Operations and Marketing- Support the President, oversee the marketing of Student Wildcat Club and sportmanship, monitor attendance, and reform the constitution as necessary 3. Vice President of Membership - Responsible for recruitment and selection process of new members. 4. Treasurer Ensures that members have paid and are members of both Zona Zoo and the Student Wildcat Club. Collects monies needed for special events and disperse funds as needed for events. Secures funds needed for activities. 5. Social Chairman - Organizes social events, and game watching gatherings. Keep attendance for those events. ARTICLE V Voting 1. This constitution and by-laws may be amended by a 2/3- majority vote, when a quorum of members is present. 2. Voting on amendments must be considered after a minimum notice of 2 weeks. 3. Any active member is able to vote on an issue pertaining to the general well being of the club. ARTICLE VI Not-for-profit Statement This is a non-for-profit organization ARTICLE VII Statement of Non-discrimination This organization shall not discriminate on the basis of age, color, ethnicity, gender, national origin, disability or handicap, race, religion, sexual orientation, Vietnam Era veteran status. This policy will include, but is not limited to recruiting, membership, organization activities or opportunities to hold office. ATICLE VIII Financial Obligations 1. An annual membership fee will be assessed, in addition to a Red Zona Zoo pass. Money from sponsors and fundraising can be used to offset any supplemental costs the organization incurs. 2. The President and Treasurer shall be responsible for payment in full of all debts accumulated by Arizona Allegiance Honorary.
ARTICLE IX Statement of Non-Hazing This organization will not conspire to engage in hazing, participate in hazing, or commit any act that causes or is likely to cause bodily danger, physical harm, or personal degradation or disgrace resulting in physical or mental harm to any fellow student or person attending the institution. ARTICLE X Statement of Compliance with Campus Regulations This organization shall comply with all University and campus policies and regulations and local, state, and federal laws. ARTICLE XI Risk Management Policy Any member who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs or both will not be permitted to take part in any onfield activities at U of A athletic events, i.e. raising the banner at home football games. In addition, all members upon their selection for the organization must sign an alcohol contract, giving their driver s license number and date of birth. If this policy is violated, the alleged member will face appropriate sanctions from Arizona Allegiance.
ARIZONA ALLEGIANCE HONORARY Policies and Procedure Commitment 1. Membership in the Arizona Allegiance Honorary at The University of Arizona is a major commitment of one s non-academic time 2. Advance notice should be made, to the greatest extent possible, to schedule academic classes and study groups in a way as not to conflict with activities, or athletic events. Code of Conduct 1. To follow the University of Arizona s Code of conduct (can be found on the Dean of Students Office webpage). 2. To follow the policies set forth in the document. 3. Use of alcohol or tobacco while in uniform at an event/appearance is prohibited 4. Must maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA 5. Improper conduct at athletic event (verbal altercations, running on the field, throwing of items), will not be tolerated. 6. Gambling on any collegiate or professional sport (e.g., office pools, Las Vegas sports book) is not tolerated and is an NCAA violation based on you being a member of this organization. 7. Participation in actions which fail to reflect the values and ideals of The University of Arizona (i.e., participation as a stripper, posing for pornographic publications and/or websites, and etc) is not tolerated. Attendance 1. If for any reason a member is not able to attend a function, event, or game, sufficient notice must be made to notify the person organizing the event. Membership 1. Interested students shall apply for membership in the Spring 2. Applications will be reviewed and then interviews will occur 3. Current members who did not meet the minimum requirements for membership will be asked to reapply. 4. Maximum amount of years allowed for membership is three Uniform 1. White short sleeve or long sleeve button up shirt (must be ironed) 2. Tan khaki, long pants, shorts, skirt (not too short), capri pants. 3. Arizona Allegiance Honorary tie will be provided by the Athletics Department during your tenure. Should tie be lost or stolen, it will be the responsibility of the member to pay for a replacement.
The University of Arizona Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Arizona Allegiance Honorary Constitution and Policies and Procedures Agreement I,, hereby acknowledge that I have read and understood the rules and regulations set forth within Arizona Allegiance Honorary Constitution, Policies and Procedures. I also acknowledge that a violation of the rules and regulations set forth in this document may result in my immediate dismissal from the Arizona Allegiance Honorary program pending recommendations from the Athletics Department Advisor. In addition, if I fail to meet the minimum requirements of my membership, I understand that I will be asked to reapply for membership the following year and that there is no guarantee that my membership will be automatically reinstated.
