ABQ SAR Chapter Continues its Tradition of Having a Well Attended Meeting on 1/23/16 by Both SAR Members and Their Spouses (Many of whom are in DAR) Compatriot Sam Baty of CAR), and Wife (who is a member of DAR) The meeting to start the 2016 sessions of the ABQ SAR Chapter was held once again at the Texas Land and Cattle Restaurant (please see the first picture above). As usual, the meeting was well attended, as close to 30 members of the ABQ SAR Chapter attended! Many of the wives also came, as was evident from pictures 2 and 3 below. Wives and Children Attended, Too! During the Social Period, a lot of business was conducted! In the above picture, Compatriot Alexander discusses meeting procdures with incoming President Carr. Presient Jacobs (third from right at head table, seated) listened intently to the discussion. From right to left Compatriot Mark Ahlen (from behind), Daughter (who is a member

During the Social Period, a lot of business was conducted! In the above picture, Compatriot Alexander discusses meeting procdures with incoming President Carr. Presidnt Jacobs pays close attention. ABQ SAR Chapter President Jake Jacobs was very relaxed as the social hour commenced. There was once again a very nice exchange of ideas between Chapter members. One could readily surmise that the attendees enjoyed one another s company! From right to left Incoming ABQ SAR Chapter President Kevin Carr (seated), ABQ SAR Chapter President Jake Jacobs (seated) Compatriot and ABQ SAR Chapter Chaplain John Thomas (seated), Compatriots with Menus, Compatriot and Former ABQ SAR Chapter President Teddy Adams, Compatriot and Former ABQ SAR Chapter President George Garcia, and Former ABQ SAR Chapter First Lady Belinda Garcia, Former NMSSAR President Michael Barger Says a Warm Hello to Meeting Attendees Compatriot Alexander Talks to Incoming ABQ SAR Chapter President Carr as President Jacobs Listens Intently From right to left Compatriot Ray Alexander (standing), Incoming ABQ SAR Chapter President Kevin Carr (seated), ABQ SAR Chapter President Jake Jacobs (seated)

ABQ SAR Chapter President Jake Jacobs Calls the Meeting to Order Meeting attendees stood and bowed their heads as Chaplain Thomas recited the opening prayer. He did a magnificent job! Incoming President Kevin Carr (second from right at head Table), President Jake Jacobs (third from right), ABQ SAR Chapter Chaplain John Thomas (fourth from right) During the Social Period, a lot of business was conducted! In the above picture, Compatriot Alexander discusses meeting procdures with incoming President Carr. President Jacobs Has ABQ SAR Chapter Chaplain John Thomas Give the Opening Prayer ABQ SAR President Jake Jacobs is second from right (seated) President Jacobs once again did an outstanding job of running the meeting. After calling the meeting to order, President Jacobs followed the traditional meeting agenda. The Chapter Chaplain (Compatriot Thomas) gave the invocation, followed by the attendees reciting the pledge of allegiance and pledge of the SAR. President Jacobs led both the Pledge of Allegiance and the Pledge of the SAR. President Jacobs did a magnificent job of leading both pledges, and the compatriots did an outstanding job of following. After the first three items delineated above were attended to, President Jacobs took a vote on the minutes of the 12/12/15 meeting. These minutes were unanimously accepted. He then proceeded with Old Business, Committee Reports, New Business, and Other Business. The Committee reports were started by Compatriot Alexander, who has done an outstanding job as Chapter Registrar.

Although there were no members brought in this month, members were assured that there were a number of potential members in the pipeline. There are 10 potential members that will probably be installed in the ABQ SAR Chapter. Since there are currently 40 members in the Chapter, there could be a 25% increase in the members in the ABQ SAR Chapter! This fact was pointed out by incoming President Carr in his opening remarks, which will be included shortly. During his report, Compatriot Baty reiterated that anyone receiving an SAR award should email him at the email address given for him in the SAR Directory. Compatriot and former ABQ SAR Chapter President Teddy Adams gave the ROTC report. Adams, who was chosen as Committee Chair for the ROTC Program, was selected as Chapter Secretary in the latest balloting and was no longer head of the Chapter ROTC Program. He gladly relinquished it! It was a relief, as it was a huge task and responsibility! Since there was nothing happening in the ROTC Program that was really significant at this time, it was a perfect time for Adams to give up the position. Treasure. The Colors were presented by the NMSSAR Color Guard. Congratulations, George, for a job extremely well done! Compatriot and Former ABQ SAR Chapter President George Garcia Provides the Color Guard Report Compatriot Garcia is shown in the above picture giving the Color Guard report. Seated next to Compatriot Garcia is his lovely wife, Belinda. On her left, facing the picture, is Compatriot and Chapter First Vice President Carl Henry. Compatriot Adams said that his time as head of the ROTC Program had been a very pleasant experience, as the ROTC enrollees were very courteous, indeed. During the meeting, President Jacobs made announcements. These were well received by the attendees. Compatriot George Garcia said that the NMSSAR Color Guard gave some 10 performances during 2015. The highlight of these performances was one at the Palace of the Governors which was topped off by a fine letter by the Denver Office stating that the Palace of Governors was a National

In the picture below, President Barger is seen congratulating incoming ABQ SAR Chapter President Carr.

He stated this fact after the convocation was disseminated and verbalized by meeting attendees. Incoming ABQ SAR President Kevin Carr told meeting attendees that he would give the job of Presidency his very best. President Carr also told meeting attendees that the ABQ SAR Chapter could grow by 25% this year!
