He enlisted voluntarily and not under duress, on the sixteenth day of May, in the year seventeen hundred eightytwo, as a soldier in the ligera troops of this cavalry company of the Royal Presidio.of La Bahia del CE]spCfri]tu SCan]to for a period of ten years. He was given a paper and was read the penalties prescribed by the ordinances.

7 Not knowing how to sign, he made the sign of the cross, being advised that [this act7 constituted his consent and that he could not avail himself of any excuse [to the contrary7. Witnesses were AntConi]o Trevino, sergeant in //2v this company, and Fran1cis7co Buentello, squad Enlistment record Don Jose Santoja, Cavalry Lieutenant and Interim Commander, &c. I certify that Antonio Gomes, son of Leonardo [Gomes] and of Ana Maria Robles, a native of this royal presidio, subject to the province of Texas, obligated himself, voluntarily and not under duress, to serve for a period of ten years, as a private in the ligera troops of this cavalry company, on the sixteenth day of May, in the year.seventeen hundred eighty=two, with knowledge of the penalty specified for desertion and of the subordination which he undertakes to the other military ordinances.==- Royal Presidio of La Bahia del CE]spCiri]tu SCan3to, sixteenth of.may, in the year seventeen hundred eighty-two. _== Jose Santoj a. < Note..,-..._ That Antonio Vasquez, a private in the troops de cuera of this company, was discharged from the royal service for incorrigibility on the sixth of the past May.
