1 Chapter President Rachael Long and the Executive Council, presents the following summary of accomplishments/activities during the month of August 2015 DATE/ACTIVITY 01. Lifetime Trustee Don Sullivan received a response from Representative Tom Cole (R-OK) regarding military compensation and the NDAA for Fiscal Year AAC Rafe Holmes distributed an to the mailing list that included 5 volunteer events for August. 03. Vice President Joseph Tolley received a response from Representative Tom Cole (R-OK) regarding FY 2016 NDAA Military Compensation. 04. Trustee/First Sergeant Andrew Wojciuch briefed local AFSA activities to the Tinker First Sergeants Council. 05. Chapter Member Garry Cannon received a response from Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) regarding military pay and compensation. 06. The Executive Council Meeting was held on Thursday, 06 August as scheduled. 08. The volunteers helped at the Bob Moore Blood Drive on 08 August. 11. Trustee/First Sergeant Andrew Wojciuch briefed local AFSA activities to the Tinker First Sergeants Council. 11. Six volunteers helped pass out school supplies to needy military families during Operation Homefront s Back to School Brigade. 12. Two volunteers sorted and packaged perishable food items for hundreds of hungry Oklahomans at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. 13. The General Membership Meeting was held on Thursday, 13 August as scheduled. 13. Chapter Members Mirolav (Nick) and Kaylon Pivrnec were elected to be the chapter delegates for the International Professional Airman s Conference. 15. One volunteer volunteered for three hours at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. 15. Lifetime Trustee Timothy Ossinger received two letters from Representative Tom Cole (R-OK) regarding the President s Budget for Fiscal Year 2016 (FY16) and the proposed cuts to military benefits such as pharmacy co-pays. 17. Twelve volunteers assisted our Veterans and interacted with them during the monthly Veteran s Bingo Game at the Norman Veteran s Center. 18. Trustee/First Sergeant Andrew Wojciuch briefed local AFSA activities to the Tinker First Sergeants Council.

A vote was conducted by the Executive Council to sponsor the SNCO Induction ceremony for $100 to cover partial cost of the mementos given during the ceremony Chapter Members Nick and Kaylon Pivrnec attended the International Professional Airman s Conference. President Rachael Long sent a message to the Executive Council with a keyword outline to be used during future chapter recruiting efforts to assist with more council members confidents when speaking about AFSA in front of a crowd. 25. Trustee/First Sergeant Andrew Wojciuch briefed local AFSA activities to the Tinker First Sergeants Council. 26. Lifetime Trustee Bryan Thompson received a response from Representative Jeff Miller (Fl-1 st Dist.) regarding the Uniformed Services Former Spouses Protection Act (USFSPA). 28. Trustee Greg Reye s was joined by Vice President Joseph Tolley and Airman Activities Coordinator Rafe Holmes and others at the Crab Town in Bricktown to be recognized for all that he has done for our chapter as well as what he has done during his time working here at Tinker AFB. He will truly be missed by all! We wish him the best of luck as he moves on to his new base and chapter.

Lifetime Trustee Timothy Ossinger received responses from Senator Tom Cole (R-OK) regarding the President s Budget for Fiscal Year 2016, and budget request and funding for military commissaries. 29. Three volunteers helped distribute food to 10,000 hungry children during a Feed the Children event at the OKC Fairgrounds. 30. President Rachael Long distributed: 1 Chapter Monthly Legislative Report, 1 General Membership Meeting Minutes, 1 Announcement of Meeting Location Change, 1 Executive Council Meeting Minutes, 1 AFSA Team Tinker Newsletter to 5,007 subscribers via our Web Site list server. She additionally disseminated volumes of information to the chapter Executive council. 30. Airmen Activities Coordinator: AAC Rafe Holmes was unable to attend. August 2015 as follows: 3 new members resulting in a total of 70 new members recruited year-todate from 9 different recruiters; and a total strength of 1,625 total members (1,444 active and 181 lapsed). 2. Recruiting Opportunities: a. Membership Briefings/Drives: (1) Other recruiting opportunities are: ALS Briefs 20 Oct: 15 Dec: FTAC Briefs 21 Oct: 4 Nov: 18 Nov: 2 Dec: (2) Membership Drives: (3) Need more members willing to be a part of the briefing teams. 3. Renewal/Retentions: 1 members retained this month, with 5 YTD from 3 retainers. 4. Bad Address List: 1 members are on the Bad Address Listing (BAL). (1) Lapsed members and soon to be expired members: Looking for someone to work ahead of the drop dead date on a regular basis to contact folks to re-new their membership before they expire. We need someone with the time and dedication to be making contact. (2) President Rachael Long sent an to all of the lapsed members and members expiring within the next 4 months, informing them that the opportunity to renew for 5 years for $25 renewal ends at the end of September and should be taken advantage of while it lasts. 30. August Legislative Letter Writing Summary via Voter Voice: 5 Members (Ossinger, Sullivan, Thompson, Cannon, and Tolley) wrote 7 letters: Representative Jeff Miller 1, Tom Cole (R-OK) 3, and Jim Inhofe (R-OK) -3. All letters sent were regarding (1) Uniformed Services Former Spouses Protection Act; (2) President s Budget for Fiscal Year 2016;(3) Budget Request for Military Commissaries; (4) Military Pay and Compensation. 7 responses received from United States Senators. 31. We had 2,257 unique visitors to our web site in August with a total of 17,946 YTD. We had a total of 5,007server subscribers to our web site in August.

5 Our Chapter sent one of our best recruiters and trustee out this month. Greg Reyes, you will be missed. Thank you for all of your AFSA efforts, good luck to you in the future, we know you will do great things. As for the rest of Chapter 985, we keep rocking, both at the International Professional Airman s Conference as well as locally. With our motivated council and our dedicated membership, it is no wonder we are the chapter that others come to for volunteerism advice. I should keep all of you informed though on one big-ticket item with a deadline of 30 September. The 5 years for $25 membership ends at the end of September, membership fees will go back to $25 for one year. Please get the word out before it is too late. If you are an active member, you can also renew your membership as well. We continue to support all projects that are within our ability to do so. Thus, our chapter offers many volunteer opportunities in the local area.
