2 MAR COMMAND COMPOSITION AND ORGANIZATION The USS HENRY W. JACKSON (SSBN 730) is an OHIO Class Trident Submarine homeported at Naval Submarine Base Bangor, Silverdale, Washington. Trident submarines are undersea intercontinental ballistic missile launching platforms whose primary mission is strategic nuclear deterrence. The submarine is under the operational control of Commander Submarine Squadron Seventeen and Commander Submarine Oroup Nine while in port and under the control of Commander Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet while deployed at sea.
