1 Linden s Sportsmen s Club Holds CMP Garand Match The Linden s Sportsmen s Club in Linden, Michigan recently hosted a CMP Garand Match. A total of 30 competitors participated which included three newcomers who had never fired an M1 Garand before. Experienced coaches were available during the match to help those who needed assistance. Stephanie Setser, of Linden, Michigan, was the match winner firing an M1 Garand score of 468-7X and earned a Gold Garand CMP Achievement Pin. She is currently listed as #84 on the Top Garand, Springfield, and Vintage Military Rifle Scores of 2007 ( 2007&eic=GARAND). Mark Dell Eva of Grand Blanc, Michigan, finished second with a 461-6X and John Johannes, of Swartz Creek, Michigan, placed third with a 456-6X. Both Eva and Johannes fired M1 Garands to earn the Silver Garand CMP Achievement Pin. Four other shooters also earned the Bronze Garand CMP Achievement Pins; Patrick Doyle, 449-7X, Scott Kemler 443-2X, Raffi Der Manuelian, 438-2X and Donald Sorenson, 435-4X. Dave Dellinger fired a Vintage Rifle score of 426-5X to earn a Bronze Vintage Military CMP Achievement Pin. 3 On this perfect fall day, Oak Ridge Sportsman's Association (ORSA) rounds out the year with the final of three Springfield matches. The matches were organized and operated by Mr. Cecil Baldwin. A total of 14, 12 Springfield and 2 vintage military rifles, competitors participated in this last event for The overall match winner was Mr. Curtis McNabb scoring 459-7X. 4 HOWELL GUN CLUB 15 SEPT 07 RIMFIRE SPORTER MATCH REPORT CMP Rimfire Sporter Match The Howell Gun Club Rifle Committee has been very active on behalf of the membership of the Howell Gun Club. We ve sponsored a CMP sanctioned Rimfire Sporter Match on 15 September with the intent to encourage adults, families and youth to compete in a 3-position rifle match. The Rifle Committee goal is to identify, train and assist adults and families who would like to shoot during the CMP Rimfire Match held in mid-july 2008 at Camp Perry. The weather was cool and clear and all shooters appeared to have a great time. We had 21 shooters with 2 ladies and 8 kids (Five Cub Scouts from Brighton Pack 347). Both of the ladies were new shooters with Lynn Gull returning from her positive experience learned from Women-On-Target. Lynn won the Open Sight class with a 510/600! Jeff Knop won Telescopic Class with a 585/600-17X barely edging out Greg Patyk by 2-X. Junior Category: Will Knop (Cub Scout) earned first place in the youth category followed by Cub Scout Gage Smego and Cub Scout Matt Knop. All of the kids had a great time, demonstrated safety and basic marksmanship, and are excited to return to our next Rimfire shoot and want to travel to Camp Perry. A special thanks for the support of Parents from Cub Scout Troop 347 and especially to one of the Mom s for participating in the cold and shooting next to her son!
