1 PUNA CRIME STATISTICS FOR FEB 28 - MAR BURGLARY: =4 On March 1st, approximately 9:00 am on Moaniala Street in Kalapana. Party reported confronting an unknown party at a friends residence after which the unknown suspect fled the area. After checking the residence a Red Dirt Devil vacuum and several misc items were missing. Through investigation identity of the suspects were gained and they were both located and arrested for the offense on On March 2nd, approximately 7:50 am on Kamanu Street in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision. Victim reported unknown suspect forcibly entered her residence and assaulted an a friend of hers F-58 causing injuries. Unknown suspect then fled the area in an unknown direction. On March 2nd, approximately 7:22 pm on Malama Street in Leilani Estates. Victim reported unknown suspects gained entry thru a sliding glass door and removed her Samsung TV also a HP printer and weed eater. Through investigation identity of the suspects were gained and they were both located and arrested for the offense on On March 5th, approximately 8:20 pm on 19th Avenue in HPP. Victim reported unknown that unknown suspects forcibly entered residence and removed $1200 in cash and playstation video games. UCPV (STOLEN VEHICLES) = 1 On February 28, approximately 11:00 pm on Lehuanani Street in Mountain View. The victim reported his granddaughter left his residence by taking his 2003 Honda Accord license# NGD638 without permission. Vehicle was later located and the victim did not wish to prosecute. UEMV (CAR ENTRY) = 1 On March 3rd, approximately 12:40 pm on 33rd avenue in HPP. Victim reported unknown suspects made entry into the passenger side door to her vehicle a 1992 white Ford Explorer license# ZAG340 and removed numerous items from within. ROBBERY= 0 No Robbery reports were made during this period.

The surface breakouts along the length of the flow pad continues to provide an indication that the tube system is being supplied and lava from the source is making its way to the down slope areas.

2 LAVA INFORMATION UPDATE: Provided by USGS CIVIL DEFENSE MESSAGE: This is an eruption and lava flow information update for Sunday March 8th at 8:00 AM. Surface activity and activity along both margins extending from the west or just above the stalled flow fronts to the summit area continues with numerous small breakouts. The surface breakouts along the length of the flow pad continues to provide an indication that the tube system is being supplied and lava from the source is making its way to the down slope areas. The small breakout along the south margin of the flow to the west or upslope of the stalled front remains active and has advanced approximately 200 yards since yesterday morning. The leading edge of this breakout is approximately.8 miles to the west or mauka and upslope of Highway 130. All current activity does not pose an immediate threat to area communities. The Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency and Hawaiian Volcano Observatory are maintaining close observations of the flow and residents and businesses down slope will be informed of any changes in flow activity and advancement.

Officer WAIPA, was promoted to CPO for the Puna district in September of He has been an officer with Hawaii Police for 15 years and has previously worked as a patrol officer in the Hilo and Hamakua districts. His sectors include: - Hawaiian Paradise Park, Kaloli, Makuu Homestead -Orchidland, Tiki Gardens, Ainaloa Community Police Officer JR Officer FLORES, was promoted to School Resource Officer for the Puna district this January. He has been an officer with Hawaii Police for 8 years and has previously worked as a patrol officer in the Kona and Puna districts. He is currently assigned to Pahoa High and Intermediate school and works with them to promote: -Anti bullying, DARE program, HIPAL activities School Resource Officer They look forward to helping promote a safer environment and great working relationship between law enforcement and the community and schools in which they serve. 6 POLICE INFORMATION FOR THE PUBLIC: Please be ADVISED that all emergency access routes are currently closed off to the public at this time and will remain so until Highway 130 becomes cut off by the current lava flow. These areas include: -Railroad Avenue from HPP to Hawaiian Beaches -Railroad Avenue from Nanawale Estates to Hawaiian Shores -Government Beach road from Hawaiian Beaches to HPP The Pahoa Transfer Station is currently under construction for a planned reopening in March. Kubojiri Phone: Media Release The Hawaiʻi Police Department will hold a community meeting on Tuesday, March 17, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Cooper Center in Volcano Village. The purpose of the meeting is to allow the public to meet the Police Department s command staff and to discuss police related concerns with the police chief and commanders who oversee police operations in the Puna District. The Puna event continues district community meetings, which are rotated throughout the eight police districts on Hawaiʻi Island.
