2 THE PORT ROYAL SC FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION
3 INSIDE SCOOP 1. This event is Rain or Shine. So bring you sunscreen, hats and yes, your rain gear...just in case. Don t forget bug spray, your beach chairs, blanket and an extra bag for your trash. 2. There is oveflow parking now at the Port thanks to the Developer of the Port of Port Royal. Look for the Signs and The Sand s Beach is now a much closer walk. Thank you Port of Port Royal. 3. The Shuttle Bus to the Sands starts at 4:30 PM. It will pick up at the Port s Overflow parking. The bus will run a continuously route and do pick-ups on the way. If you don t catch the first one, just wave for them to stop. The map is available on the Facebook Page and the last pick-up will be at 7:30 pm. Thank you Beaufort Historic Partnership for your help in securing this bus. 4. COME HUNGRY. We have awesome BBQ, fresh shrimp, tasty hot dogs, cool ices and yummy ice cream. 5. Okay repeat after me. No coolers and No animals (except service dogs). 6. Bring cash. On the Fourth morning put on your Honey to Do List first stop ATM or bank. Please bring one and five dollars to buy tickets because we will need them for change. No credit cards. Beer and wine are 3 dollars each and water is a dollar. 7. We will start the event at 5:30 PM officially with a community group singing of the National Anthem led by and with our appreciation to the following: Mayor Samuel E. Murray, Council Member Ms. Mary Beth Gray-Heyward Council Member Mr. Jerry Ashmore Council Member Mr. Darryl Owens. They might not consider themselves songbirds but they do have a ton of patriotic pride. Thank you
4 8. DON T FORGET YOUR CAMERA. Dress festive, wear your favorite Fourth of July shirts/hats, have your children show their spirit and be creative The Sand s Food Vendors and Event Stations will be decorated so join in the fun. The Photo Opportunities will be amazing. Can I say next year s possible Christmas or Holiday Card? 10. The Oh So Refreshing watermelon contest starts at 5:30 but sign-ups at begin at 5 pm. Thank you to Robert Averill from the Piggly Wiggly again for the melon donation. Sign up for all age brackets and then Let s the Games Begin. 11. Look for the Volunteers wearing I am Here to Help buttons and Jaycees shirts. Thank you to them and also to Chief Beach and Lt. Massey and the Police Force for their hard work on this holiday.. Let s also include Jeff and his DPW team with Van and Brooke from the Town of Port Royal. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL. 10. The Tattoo for You Station will let you display your Patriotic Prides with a fun tattoo or try another fun design. Lisa McCann from Painted by Lisa will be there making sure all runs well and there will be lots of volunteers to help. There will be a line so please have patience. 11. Tux the Clown will be nearby in his spot making Animal Balloons while also making us all SMILE. 12. The Boys Scouts sponsored by David Coleman with Boy Scout Troop Cateret Street United Methodist Church with help from Gina Shetzer will be hosting the incredible Hot Dog Eating Contest. Make sure you sign up at their station and fill out your forms at 6:45 for this incredible competition. Nathan s Contest has nothing on this Port Royal Competition. 13. Dance, sing or just plain listen to the incredible Main Street Band. Listen to Emcee Barry Lee for all announcements during the Event. 14. Don t forget to please put your cans in the big recycling bin provided. If you can t find it, ask.
5 15. LAST CALL For Alcohol is 8:45. Bars close at 9 PM. Dont say you haven t been told you. 16. Make sure your Golf Carts leave by the time given by the Port Royal Police Department. THE FIREWORKS 9:00 ish Parris Island Show begins. Port Royal Show begins. Can t wait to hear the cheers from the beach and the horns from the boats. Soon it will be time to go home. Yes there will be traffic, have lots of patience but hopefully fun was had by all. So I hope this covers it.
