4 13. Membership Corner Comrades: We all know recruiting new members and keeping those members we have on the payroll is an on-going process that will allow us to complete our mission. Our system to provide competition and rewards for excellence in production may not be the best, but it is what we have to work with until new ideas are invented. We also know that having a strong Post and Auxiliary can only happen when we enlist new members and listen to what they think might make our organization better. Posts & Auxiliaries may want to take a look at how often, and the methods we use, to communicate with our members. Do we call those without just to see how they are doing? Do we have up to date and phone numbers? Do we hold our meetings at a time and day of the week that accommodates the majority? Sometimes it is the little things that matter and serve to increase the overall morale of our team. As the Department Membership Chairman, I use the Member Statistics provided daily by our National HQ as a thermometer of how we are doing compared with our State and Department colleagues. I also look closely at how each Post is performing production wise. Is this a perfect tool, no, but often reflects Red Flags where a Post may need some help. I suspect our National membership gurus do the same! As I recall, Idaho finished #3 in the Nation last year and our reward was getting premier seating at the National Convention. The real benefit, in my view, as being one of the best of the best, we were able to do more for our members. We are currently ranked #37 out of 54 Departments with our production % compared to the National percentage of Are we in trouble, is National hollering at the Commander, no, but I know we are better than average. We can do better, but we have to do some work, and working together without petty personnel issues is the key. On the flip side, the number One Department last year is currently competing for the Last Place Champion Award, so things ain t all bad!!! As always, if you need help or have a better idea our Membership Office is open 24/7 at or d69croner@aol.com In Comradeship, Denny Croner, CNR March. Review state incorporation paperwork for your post. You should get a card from the Secretary of State that must be signed and filled out and returned no later than 60 days from the date on the card.. Scout of the year nomination should be at the Department of Idaho HQ by April 1 st.. Posts need monthly Audit Reports.. Posts need monthly Community Activity Reports sent to the JVC by the 26 th of the month.. Posts need to continue working membership daily.. Remember to check your State income tax form for the Veterans Support Fund.. Order Buddy Poppies for Memorial Day.. Posts who have adopted Guard units, your quarterly Adopt-a-Unit reports are due to National Adopt-a-Unit program manager.. Teacher of the Year nominations should have been forwarded to District by March 1 st.
