Camporee Activities There are lots of fun activities planned for the Camporee. Our intention is to have enough to do that the Scouts will always have something to do, eliminating the I m Bored comments. There will be some scored activities, where the results can be tabulated and Troops awarded for the highest score, fastest time, longest distance, etc. There are also activities planned that give the scouts the chance to test themselves and the other members of their patrols, and forcing the patrols to work together to achieve the goal. The satisfaction of completing these events will be the award. Saturday Lunch The Army National Guard will be providing a military style lunch that a Soldier would eat in a typical day spent in the field. Each camper will be provided a Meal Ready to Eat (MRE) so each Scout can experience, first hand, how soldiers replenish while training or fighting. All other meals will be supplied by your own units. Scored Activities (awards will be given at troop level) Archery Don t throw away your shot, and take a chance at the Archery Range! Tug of War Winner stays on! Try your patrol/troop of 8 in a display of strength and teamwork, and show the other patrol who is superior!
Scored activities (continued) Rock Wall There is a climbing wall at the site. See if you have what it takes to get to the top! Pull Up Contest Think you are strong? Prove it on the pull up bar! Humvee Pull See if your Troop/patrol can pull a 5-ton Military Truck. Non-Scored Activities The following activities are offered, but they will not be scored. The reward will be participating and having fun! First Aid Troops/patrols will be presented with a scenario and will treat the injuries using proper technique and precautions. Each patrol should carry a first aid kit with them for the day, and will use items from it during the event. First Aid Merit badge- Bring your workbook and a signed blue card. Fingerprinting Merit Badge- Bring your workbook and a signed blue card. Traffic Safety Merit badge- Bring your workbook and a signed blue card. Basketball The courts will be open for shoot around, games, whatever you like. Maybe someone will set up a 3 on 3 tournament! Laser Range Train on the Army s Laser weapons range.
Weapons Display and Safety Class A large selection of Military weapons will be on display for hands on interaction and inspection. Weapon safety is always a priority and this will be closed class that will require a permission slip. Please note that there is no ammo on site; this is a safe class. Additional Activities There will be military vehicles on site to check out, and the Warren and Washing ton County Sheriff s Exploring Posts will be attending with equipment and activities. The Scouts can also learn more about Exploring! Camping Information Troops will be allowed to camp in an area around the Armory. There is a large field that is gently rolling where troops can set up their tents, tarps, etc. For those troops who have a trailer that needs to stay at their campsite, there is a more level area adjacent to the first area. There is also a more wooded area for troops that want to take the opportunity to hammock camp or other low impact camping styles. Space is somewhat limited, so there is a maximum of 275 attendees. Campsites will need to be neat and take up minimum space. Volunteers that don t attend with a unit are welcome to stay overnight inside the Armory on a cot. Scoutmasters will need to bring all attendees medical forms and keep them at your campsite. Indoor bathroom and shower facilities are always available. There will be port-a-potties available, too.
FIRES All campfires MUST be off the ground and in a container that will protect the ground underneath it. WATER Water is available over the weekend. TRASH After clean-up, trash may be disposed of on site. Night Activity/Campfire Program Saturday night s campfire will be a place where the scouts can do a skit if they choose to. Registration All registration must be done online through the Twin Rivers Council website. The direct link to the registration page is: Fee for the weekend is: $7 per person until Sept. 24 at 11:59pm $12 per person beginning Sept. 25. Please note that the fee has been able to be reduced for this specific camporee due to the generosity of the National Guard. Please show your appreciation at the event. The National Guard receives no compensation for this event.
Weapons Display Permission Slip If any of your Scouts (under 18 years old) would like to participate in the weapons display/weapons safety course, please make sure they have a copy of the permission slip beforehand, so that they are able to get it signed by their parent/guardian. Access will not be granted to scouts without parental consent. The form on the next page must be complete and submitted at the classroom door for entry. Please make copies of the following form to allow your scouts to participate in the Military Weapons Display.
