Plan and write out a personal workout. (w/ Adam) Ventures/Cactuses/Progressives: Learn the importance of endurance v. speed. Discuss the types of running. (w/ Zach) Activity (advancements, merit badge classes... ): 8:05 pm 8:20 pm (15 minutes) Seniors: Judging patrols during First Aid Review/ Checking QM equipment Ventures: Maple Trees: Cactuses: First Aid Review: Each patrol will be tested to see what needs to be done to treat a victim of several ailments. The patrols will be judged on the following: participation, accuracy, and speed. In-charge: Nolan Hiehle, Dylan Candelora, Case Liga, Chris Romanwski Penguins: Progressives: Advancement w/ Connor McGaffin Game: 8:20 pm 8:35 pm (15 minutes) Assassin: The game starts with all scouts closing their eyes and several assassins being chosen. All scouts will then walk around shaking each other s hands, and the assassins will have a special handshake. The victims of the special handshake will die after a couple more handshakes, and everyone must identify all the assassins to win the game. 3 AMERICAN CREED EQUIPMENT: A red candle, white candle, blue candle. ARRANGEMENT: Room is dark except for the three candles. PERSONNEL: Four Scouts. SPL: Troop Attention. SCOUT 1: As I put out this white candle representing purity, may we be ever mindful of this obligation that a Scout is clean. He is clean in body and thought, stands for clean speech, clean sport, clean habits, and travels with a clean crowds. SCOUT 2: As I put out this blue candle representing loyalty, may we be ever mindful of this obligation that a Scout is loyal. He is loyal to all to whom loyalty is due, his Scout leader, his home, his parents, and his country. SCOUT 3: As I put out this red candle representing courage and sacrifice, may we be ever mindful of our obligation that a Scout is brave. He has the courage to face danger in spite of fear, and to stand up for the right against the coaxing of friends and the jeers or threats of enemies and defeat does not drown him. SCOUT 4: May we close this troop meeting by reminding ourselves of our duty according to the American's Creed; I therefore believe it is my duty to my country To love it; To support its constitution; To obey its laws; To respect its flag; and To defend it against all enemies. Each patrol member will tie a different knot that they are requested to tie. The game will be judged by the following : participation, speed, and accuracy. In-charge: Andrew Casey, Ryan Dostillio, Nolan Hiehle, Case Liga Penguins: Progressives: Advancement w/ Connor McGaffin Game: 8:20 pm 8:35 pm (15 minutes) Barrel Game: Scouts will form a circle and interlock hands. The objective is to make others let go of each other or to drag someone into the barrel. 6 FLAG AND CANDLE EQUIPMENT: 1 small American flag, 1 white candle, 1 blue candle & 1 red candle SPL: Troop Attention. Scout 1: Practically from the beginning of time, man has used symbols to express hope, ideals, and love of his own nation. Our flag represents the ideals and science, commerce and agriculture. It symbolizes the sacrifices made by men and women for the future of America. It stands for your home and everything and everyone you hold dear. "I light the red candle which is the symbol of the red in our flag, and stands for hardiness and valor and symbolizes the lifeblood of brave men and women." Scout 2: "I light the white, which is the symbol of purity and innocence and symbolizes the white of our flag." Scout 3: "I light the blue candle which is the symbol of perseverance and justice, and symbolizes the eternal blue of the heavens." PL: "The stars in our flag represent states. They indicate that the heights of achievement for our nation are limitless as the heavens above us.' Hold Small American Flag up PL: Scout Salute. Please repeat with me the Pledge of Allegiance. The entire patrol will participate and the best time from all the patrols will win a ribbon for each competition. Activity (advancements, merit badge classes... ): 8:05 pm 8:20 pm (15 minutes) Ventures: In charge of leading a review session on lashings. Seniors: Maple Trees: Cactuses: Lashings Review: Review the different kinds of lashings and what they are used for. Each member should try at least one different kind of lashing that they would like to learn. In-charge: Sam Capalbo, Jon Kopsick, Grant Sammel, Trey Snyder Penguins: Progressives: Advancement w/ Connor McGaffin Game: 8:20 pm 8:35 pm (15 minutes) Rockstar: Troop creates a circle, with two people in the middle. One is the rockstar and one is the bodyguard. People in the circle throw balls at the rockstar, if he is hit, the hitter becomes the bodyguard, the bodyguard becomes the rockstar, and the rockstar goes back into the circle. 9 AMERICA'S ANSWER SPL: Troop Attention. Scout 1: America needs men with a concern for the common good -- men who have the understanding and insight to help solve her problems and those of the changing world around us. She needs citizens of integrity who value their great heritage and who are determined to pass on to others an enduring faith in the ideals and methods of our free society. Scout 2: How does a boy come to know and to appreciate his heritage as a citizen of this nation? How does his sense of responsibility and his concern for others unfold? Begin with him when he is a Cub Scout as he promises with all the solemnity of an 8-year old "to do my duty to God and my country..." Watch the pride and loving care with which he handles the flag as he is taught to fold it. He may not fully understand all that it stands for, but someday he will... with help. Scout 3: Observe him later as he stands tall, alert and proud in his khaki uniform as the flag is lowered at Scout camp. He is living everyday experiences as a good citizen and showing concern for the needs of others. He is growing and practicing the fundamentals of citizenship. All of this time he is under the friendly guidance and companionship of men who care about him. Scout 4: Now he is grown tall, in high school. A Venturer. He ponders the words of the Venturing Code. There is conviction in his voice as he says: "I will treasure my American heritage and will do all I can to preserve and enrich it." And so this young American comes to manhood. He has grown through his Scouting experiences and though the influences of many men and women who have helped him. He has a job and a family and is making himself count in his community. He is a citizen of a great nation. He understands his heritage and cheerfully accepts his future obligations to all men. He has been a Scout. He is America's answer!
