8 Service Member and Family Care Directorate SMFC Director SMFC NCOIC SERVICES: Integrate the South Carolina National Guard Service Member and Family Care systems with the intent of optimized efficiency in providing help and the reduction of at risk tendencies in the South Carolina National Guard. 9 RESILIENCE AND RISK REDUCTION (R3) SECTION R3SP Manager R3SP NCO SERVICES: Conducts, coordinates, and hosts Resilience training for all phases of the ARFORGEN Cycle. Produces and updates state Resilience, Risk Reduction, and Suicide Prevention (R3SP) products such as Leader s Guides, Soldier/Airman Questionnaire, etc. Project managers, case management battle tracking, and R3SP advisors for state R3SP Council. 10 SUICIDE PREVENTION PROGRAM MANAGER National Suicide Prevention Hotline TALK (8255) Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to SERVICES: -Works with the Major Subordinate Commands (MSCs) to identify the MSC Suicide Intervention Officer (SIO) points of contact (POCs) and establish a statewide SIO POC list. Ensures all SIO s are aware of their duties/responsibilities and have appointment orders. -Ensures that the R3 Section and SCNG subordinate units are aware of and adhere to all guidance given in the NGB R3SP Campaign Plan, updates, policies, etc. reference to suicide and suicidal actions. - Prepares all mandatory/optional suicide prevention training; conduct Train the Trainer events on mandatory/optional suicide training -Serves as the NCOIC in planning, preparing, and executing all Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) events within the SCNG. - Ensures proper procedures (actions, reporting, and follow ups) at the unit and R3 Section / SCNG level are followed whenever there is a suicidal incident (ideation, attempt, or completion). 11 SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION AND RESPONSE (SAPR) PROGRAM SERVICES: The Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) coordinates the design and delivery of sexual assault prevention and response services to increase awareness. Coordinates sexual assault awareness, prevention and support briefs and workshops to increase the understanding of what constitutes sexual assault, to reinforce that it is a crime, and to ensure that personnel know the full range of reporting options. Handles case record management and makes sure that the new restricted reporting requirements are properly executed. Collects and reports data and provides updates to victims. 12 DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE SAFE HELPLINE SERVICES: Department of Defense (DoD) Safe Helpline is a groundbreaking crisis support service for members of the DoD community affected by sexual assault. Safe Helpline provides live, oneon-one advice, support, and information to the worldwide DoD community. 14 WARRIOR FITNESS PROGRAM Mission Develop and implement an enduring, integrated and regionally-accessible coaching program intended to enhance Military Culture by decreasing high risk behaviors and promoting healthy lifestyle choices and routine physical activity in Service Members; while also benefiting Family Members and Retirees with the same paradigm. Assist units and individual Service Members through fitness programming to attain and maintain fitness standards IAW FM 7-22 (PRT), AR (AWCP), and AR (SFPA). Develop levels of unit and individual fitness and body composition standards that increase retention and resiliency through mitigating injuries and chronic illnesses, thereby increasing readiness of the SCNG assigned strength for the responsibility to execute missions, both local and abroad. Vision To train each member of the South Carolina National Guard as a valued member of a fighting Team. To train and condition each member of the Team to discover and reach their physical potential. To train each Team member to out-perform any adversary, and to have the capacity for performance on demand. Warrior Fitness focuses on physical performance measures for the entire Team, regardless of their current physical conditioning status. The goal is to train and condition every Team Member to develop the Tactical Athlete needed for the array of missions they are called upon to perform for State and Nation. 14

15 WARRIOR FITNESS PROGRAM Discover your physical potential, using educated and credentialed strength and conditioning coaches. Be coached on the latest techniques of training and conditioning used by professional and collegiate sport teams for: mobility, stability, endurance, speed, strength, agility, and nutrition for the athlete. For those not meeting baseline physical fitness or body composition standards (APFT/AWCP), Warrior Fitness can also assist in those areas, and provide Command feedback on progress monthly. 19 CHAPLAIN STATE MINISTRY TEAM SERVICES: Provides spiritual guidance, marriage and Family counseling, individual counseling, grief counseling and pre-marital counseling, and crisis response. Conducts, coordinates, and hosts spiritual and family resiliency training events along with weddings and funerals. Provides training to unit chaplains on issues pertaining to marriage and Family. Assists unit chaplains in providing marriage and parenting training to military personnel and their Family members. Referrals to other helping agencies as necessary. 20 SC AIR GUARD CHAPLAIN CORPS 169 th Fighter Wing McEntire Joint National Guard Base Chaplains are the spiritual leaders of the National Guard. Their mission is to provide spiritual care and the opportunity for service members and their families to exercise their constitutional right to the free exercise of religion. This is accomplished through religious observances, providing pastoral care, confidential counseling, and advising leadership on spiritual, ethical, moral, morale, core values, and religious accommodation issues. Chaplains lead the Strong Bonds program in partnership with the Airman and Family Readiness Program Coordinator and assist commanders in building individual resiliency by strengthening the military family. The core mission of Strong Bonds is to increase individual service member and family readiness through relationship education and skills training. Retreats are offered for singles, married couples, and families. Chaplains help service members and their families during all phases of the deployment cycle. They play a key role in the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program as they conduct a variety of workshops for married and single service members, offer individual and family counseling, and provide worship services during the weekend events. Chaplains provide suicide prevention training, crisis intervention after a traumatic event, and spiritual resiliency retreats for service members before and after a deployment. 20

21 SC AIR GUARD CHAPLAIN CORPS (Cont.) Chaplains lead a Religious Support Team (RST) which consists of the Chaplain and a trained Chaplain Assistant. The Chaplain Assistant is an enlisted service member who serves as an extra set of eyes and ears for the RST as they support the ministry of Chaplains. The SCANG Chaplain Corps primarily provides support to service members assigned to the 169 th Fighter Wing. They serve as Traditional Guard members during Unit Training Assembly weekends and periods of Annual Training. However, they can be reached anytime outside of drill weekends. 22 SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM (SAP) SAP MISSION: The Substance Abuse Program s (SAP) Mission is to strengthen the overall fitness and effectiveness of the South Carolina Army National Guard (SCARNG), to conserve manpower and to enhance the combat readiness of Soldiers. 23 G1 DRUG TESTING CENTER (DTC): SERVICES: Test All Soldiers and Airmen: a. Conduct statewide urinalysis testing b. SRP/ IMRX c. Quality control of unit specimens collected prior to lab d. Coordinate unit testing, training and track unit testing percentages We provide Unit Prevention Leader (UPL) training. We provide training during drill and anytime during the week. The course certification is good for one year. We teach UPLs how to conduct testing at the unit level. To include: Pre-Collection Process, Collection Process, Post Collection Process, Correction Process, and Packaging and Delivering Process. As well as monitor Drug Positive Soldiers and assist units with the process of retention. 28 SCNG VETERAN ADVISOR MISSION: SCNG Veteran Advisors provide responsive assistance to Veterans and Families Members related to eligible benefits and compensation by coordinating with regional partners to maximize local resources and minimize delay in services. 30 TRANSITION ASSISTANCE ADVISOR SERVICES: Provides information and assistance to Veterans in SC and their Families in understanding and obtaining benefits and services through the Veterans Administration and the military health system. Coordinates with appropriate Veterans Administration, TRICARE, Veteran Service Organizations, and other resources to provide required information and assistance. Participates in the mobilization and demobilization process to brief/advise Veterans and their Families on available entitlements and information resources. 31 DEFENSE TRAVEL SYSTEM (DTS) / AFCOS ORDERS SERVICES: - Approve DTS for Yellow Ribbon Events for Family Members of Service Members returning from deployments. - Manage funds and Service Member pay for classes and events. - The go-to people for orders and pay issues within the SMFC. 32 PERSONAL FINANCIAL COUNSELOR (PFC) Personal Financial Consultant (PFC): The PFC provides financial counseling to include Budgeting, Debt Management and Long Term Planning. The PFC can also help families who are in need of financial assistance by getting them to the appropriate agencies. The PFC will travel as necessary to meet with Soldiers, their families or civilians. Our outreach is critical to helping Guardsmen get the help they need when facing difficult financial challenges or if they are the victim of illegal or unscrupulous financial practices. The idea is simple: if one of your Guardsmen is having problems with a financial product or service, we want to hear about it. 33 MILITARY ONE SOURCE Military One Source State Consultant SERVICES: Our consultants are experts on the resources available in the communities where service members and their Families reside, including information on benefits, etc. Consultants will travel throughout the state as appropriate to meet with Families and unit Family support staff to assess needs, from relationships with community resources, and provide or refer to services. Military One Source provides education, relocation, parenting, stress - you name it - Military OneSource is here to help you with just about any need. Available by phone or online ( our free service is provided by the Department of Defense for Active-Duty, Guard, and Reserve service members and their Families. 51 REAL WARRIORS REAL BATTLES REAL STRENGTH SERVICES: -The Real Warriors Campaign is an initiative launched by the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury to promote the processes of building resilience, facilitating recovery and supporting reintegration of returning service members, veterans and their families. -The Real Warriors Campaign promotes help-seeking behavior among service members and veterans with invisible wounds and encourages service members to increase their awareness and use of these resources. 52 SOUTH CAROLINA MILITARY FAMILY CARE ASSOCIATION, INC. The SCMFCA is an all-volunteer outreach. There are no salaries or overhead costs. This is a virtual organization who meets online daily to respond to requests and on teleconference calls. Every penny received is spent on Soldier/Family care. SERVICES: The SCMFCA provides emergency relief to South Carolina resident military members and their Families in the event of unusual or unpreventable hardship. To protect the dignity of Soldiers and Families, only Commanders can ask for assistance. Because the SCMFCA is all volunteer, the authorizers depend on Commanders to be the eyes and ears of all requests with detailed information. 53 SOUTH CAROLINA MILITARY FAMILY RELIEF FUND SERVICES: The South Carolina Military Family Relief Fund (SCMFRF), provides monetary grants to families of South Carolina National Guard members and South Carolina residents serving in the U.S. Armed Forces Reserve components who were called to active duty as a result of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. There is a Status Based Grant, which is a flat rate of $500, as well as a Need Based Grant which can amount up to $2,000.
