1 25 th Annual Duty to God and Country Celebration Location: Public Safety Training Complex th Ave, Columbus, Ga When: September 16-18, 2016 Event cost: $15.00 Per Scout or Adult Leader (includes admission to the Naval Museum) PLEASE NOTE: ALL INDIVIDUALS AGE 7 OR OLDER WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY $5.00 FOR THE ADMISSION TO THE MUSEUM
2 Directions Go to Cusseta Rd. :if traveling down Victory Dr. from 185 South turn right on to 10th Ave. them turn right on to Cusseta Rd. If you are traveling from Veterans PKW. On to Victory Dr. turn left on to10th AVE. then turn right on to Cusseta Rd. FOLLOW SIGNS TO LOCATION OF GOD AND COUNTRY
3 Friday Evening- Registration, Set up camp, Leaders Meeting Saturday Day- Duty to God Events- These will be in a round robin format, work on various faith based elements (available from Pray Publishing ) when completed the scout or adult leader will be eligible to purchase a faith based patch(s) to celebrate their accomplishment for the completed sections-these can be ordered from Pray ( Round Robin activities will include: An age appropriate service project(s) is planned; in giving back, we successfully Do a Good Turn for our community. Self - guided tour of the National Civil War Naval Museum (TRANSPORTATION MUST BE PROVIDED BY YOUR UNIT) Your unit will design and make a banner based on your understanding of Duty to God and Country. (Fabric and glue will be provided for each Scouting Unit to make your banner) You are welcome to bring other materials. You should be prepared to share and explain your banner at the evening activities. Drop by the Prayer Wall- this area will include adding your prayerful thoughts to the Prayer Wall as an Individual or as a group Basic Chaplains Aide Training will be offered to members of your unit by George and Scott from the Central Florida Council. This class is open to Scouts and Scouter s alike. These classes will help your unit on the new 2016 requirements and how to use the Chaplains Aide program in your specific unit. An opportunity for your Scouts to work on components of Out of the Water Bible Basics sponsored by Pray Publishing- additional information Publishing.com Saturday Evening Our evening events will have a full schedule from a special flag retirement ceremony, with presentation and explanation of banners, campfire and themed skits under the stars. Sunday Morning Scouts Own Service: As offering -Please bring canned goods, dry goods or non- perishables for a donation to a local outreach program. 5 25 th Annual Duty to God and Country Retreat September 16-18, 2016 Columbus Safety Training Complex Cusseta Rd. Columbus, GA General Information Sheet When: September 16-18, 2016 ALL TIMES WILL BE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME Purpose: To promote Duty to God Awards in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing, and Girl Scouts. Where: Columbus Safety Training Complex Check in on Friday: Entrance to Training field 6 PM 10 PM EST. Check in on Saturday: Entrance: Training Field 8:30 AM 10 AM EST. REMEMBER TO PRE-REGISTER FOR EVENT Cost: $15.00 Per Scout or Adult Leader, for the weekend; $25.00 after September 9 th $15.00 per Scout or Adult Leader, for Saturday Only; $25.00 after September 9 th Registration: Pre-Registration is required at the Scout office for all participants. We will have check in Friday, September 16, 2016 between 6:00 PM -10:00 PM EST at entrance to Camp. Saturday morning check in is for day only and late camp arrivals from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. Registration ends September 17 th at 10 AM. Meals: Units attending for the entire weekend will need to provide their own meals, to include the simple lunch & beverage for Saturday as well; units are responsible for their own Cracker Barrels. Cantina: Operating hours Friday Open to 10:00 pm Saturday Open from 10:00am to 6:00 pm General Menu Offerings: Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Hot Dogs, Chips, Cookies, Pickles, Assorted Candies, Cold Water Bottles and Soft Drinks Workman s Lunch Special (Troops using as lunch meal should Pre-ordered) $5.00 get you: Hamburger or Hot Dog, Chips, Cookies and Drink Equipment: Each unit will need to bring their own tents, chairs, dining flies, bug spray, raingear, water buckets, Fire pit, toiletries, and money for extra activities. Wear comfortable shoes/boots and bring your water bottle and gloves for the service projects. NO OPEN TOED SHOES Amenities: Heavily shaded camping areas, porta-potties will be on site, above ground camping and cooking fires are allowed, potable water on site. Round Robin Activities: Prayer Wall, Pray Bible Basics- Out of the Water activity; Chaplains Aide; Naval Museum Tour; God and Country radio remote Broadcast; Service Project; Re-enactors

7 Scout Spirit and Uniforms: Each scout is expected to act according to Scout Oath and Scout Law. Two- deep leadership is required. All participants are asked to wear Class A uniform at services and flag retiring...as SCOUTS WILL BE VISIBLE BY THE PUBLIC AT THE MUSEUM-CLASS A UNIFORM SHOULD BE WORN. Class B can be worn AFTER THE FLAG RETIREMENT. The BUDDY SYSTEM is to be utilized at all times and a Scouting spirit. Transportation: Each unit needs to provide their own transportation to the retreat and throughout the weekend please plan accordingly.
