SJAM In-House Awards 2008 SJAM State of Penang welcomes nomination for the 2008 SJAM In-House. Nomination for the above awards will be based on the numbers of years of services and contribution to SJAM. All nominations MUST BE submitted via the respective areas and must reach the Admin Office no later than 25 th May Appointment of Assistant State Honorary Secretaries The following officers has been appointed as Assistant State Honorary Secretaries to further improve the existing administration of SJAM Penang: i) Mr. Ng Kar Hoong (Assistant State Honorary Secretary I) Mr. Ng Kar Hoong who is also the State Cadet Officer will hold the rank marking of 10. Mr. Yeoh Koon Yong (Assistant State Honorary Secretary II) Mr. Yeoh Koon Yong was previously the State Staff Officer for Public Duties & EMAS, will hold the rank marking of Employment Vacancies in SJAM Penang The following vacancies are available at both SJAM Penang and EMAS Penang: Administrative Assistant Accounts Assistant Ambulance Medic Ambulance Driver Candidates who wish to apply for the above position must have basic related qualifications. SJAM 100 Years Centenary Celebration Coins Collection This memorable coins collection in conjunction with the SJAM 100 year s centenary celebration will be on sale from Bank Negara Malaysia beginning 24 th June Members and officers may make purchases in advance with the Admin Office. National Activities in conjunction with the SJAM 100 Years Centenary Celebration St. John Ambulance of Malaysia will be celebrating its 100 years of celebration this year. The National Headquarters has lined up a series of activities for this auspicious event. For updated information, kindly visit and i) International Cadet Camp 2008 (ICC 2008) The ICC 2008 will be held from 10 th 16 th December 2008 in Templer s Park, Rawang, Selangor. This international event will be organized by SJAM Selangor to be attended by an estimated 2000 cadets from all over the world. Penang is allocated a total of 60 participants with 2 accompanying officers. Registration fee per person is RM Limited places available. Please register with the respective Areas before 1 st of July Registration forms available with respective Areas. National Conference The National Conference will be held on 11 th & 12 th December 2008 in Kuala Lumpur. Members and officers who are interested may book your dates now. Further information will be announced soon. i National Review / Inspection Each State is required to send at least 1 contingent for the National Inspection. Officers and members who are interested may give your names to the Admin Office. iv) Grand Dinner Date: 14 th December 2008; venue: Kuala Lumpur v) Mount Kinabalu Climb This event will be organized by SJAM Sabah. It is planned to be held in October vi) Mass CPR Planned to be held in November 2008, the Mass CPR will be held simultaneously at different regions throughout Malaysia. Penang has been selected to host the Mass CPR for the northern region. Further information will be announced soon. v Emergency Health Care Competition Planned to be held on 20 th August 2008, the first ever competition will be open for health care providers. vi SJAM 100 Years Anniversary Souvenir Book In conjunction with the 100 years of celebration, an Anniversary Souvenir Book will be published. The National Headquarters is inviting all members and officers who have memorable photos / stories / items to submit them to the National HQ for publication. All items are returnable.

3 7. Commission for Annual Flag Day Street Collection Beginning March 2008, the Admin Office has started issuing commissions for Annual Flag Day ( ). All schools and areas who have contributed will be given commission (5%+5%) from the Street Collection of Flag Day. For those schools and areas who have not collected their payment, kindly contact the Admin Office (Mr. Khor at ). 8. EMAS Charity Food Fair The EMAS Charity Food Fair will be jointly organized by SJAM Penang and Leo Club to raise funds for the EMAS Ambulance Operation Fund. There will be a total of 60 stalls selling various Penang delicacies with interesting events lined up. Tickets are on sale now at RM10.00 per piece. Details are as below: Date : 1 st June 2008 (Sunday) Time : 10am to 3pm Venue : SJAM Penang Headquarters All officers at state / area / divisional level are required to help support the food tickets at a minimum of RM (total of 10 tickets, exchangeable for food). The committee also invites interested members / officers to take up booths to prepare food for sale. Individual tickets are available for sale at RM10.00 per piece from SJAM Penang Headquarters. Further information, kindly contact Mr. Tan Chooi Poh ( ) and Mr. Lee Thuan Chye ( ). 9. Annual Flag Day 2008 The Annual Flag Day will be held on 28 th & 29 th June All members and officers are requested to attend the activities of the Annual Flag Day. The official launch of the State Level Flag Day is tentatively planned on 21 st June 2008, to be held at Queensbay Mall, Penang. Officers in-charge : Dato Khoo Kay Huat, DSPN Mr. William Hoe Chin Khwan 10. Annual Inspection 2008 The Annual Inspection this year will be organized by the North-East Area. It will be held on 10 th of August 2008 in Polo Ground, in front of Hospital Pulau Pinang. All members and officers are required to attend the Annual Inspection. The rehearsal for the Inspection will be held on 3 rd August 2008, 9:00am 12:00pm. Further information, kindly contact the Organising Committee Chairman, Mr. Lee Choew Guan ( ). 11. National First Aid & Home Nursing Competition 2008 The 2008 National First Aid & Home Nursing Competition will be held from 31 st May to 1 st June 2008 at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai, Johor. 4 teams comprising members from SMJK Perempuan China, SMJK Chung Ling dan SMJK Heng Ee will represent Penang to the above competition. The officer in-charge is Mr. Tan Hai Keat ( ). Members and officers who wish to accompany the teams to Johor, please register yourself with the Admin Office, SJAM Penang. Limited places available. 12. Formation of Water Rescue Squad The Water Rescue Squad is in the midst of formation under the supervision of State Staff Officer (Water Rescue). The squad will provide training for members in terms of water rescue. Officers and members who are keen to join the Water Rescue Squad may fill up the forms, obtainable from the Admin Office.

4 13. Report on Recent Activities i) Advanced First Aid & Basic Ambulance Course The above course was successfully organized from 1 st to 4 th May 2008 at SJAM Penang Headquarters. A total of 42 participants attended the 4-day course which was organized by the committee headed by Dr. Sham Kumar, State Staff Officer (Training & Development). Le Tour De Love Trans-Nation Cycling Charity Event This Charity Cycling event was launched by YAB Chief Minister of Penang, Mr. Lim Guan Eng on 10 th of May 2008 in SJAM Penang Headquarters. A group of 4 cyclist headed by YB Mr. The Yee Cheu, State Assemblyman of Tanjung Bungah was flagged off at 7am by our Chief Minister. The cyclist will cycle across countries over 50 days before arriving at Xiamen, China. Prior to the official launching ceremony, an informal Pre-Launch Dinner was held on 5 th of May 2008 at SJAM Penang Headquarters. A total of about 100 people from various organizations and bodies came for this event. The joint organizing committee chairman of the Charity Cycling event is our State Commander, Dato Dr. Yee Thiam Sun. This event aimed to raised a targeted RM500,000 for 5 different organizations. SJAM Penang is one of the beneficiaries. i 2008 Annual General Meeting of SJAM Penang The Annual General Meeting of the SJAM Penang was held on 25 th April 2008 at SJAM Penang Headquarters. The AGM was attended by all council members of SJAM Penang. The annual report for the year 2007 has been passed through the AGM.
