1 Jun 2, 2017 Volume 5 Issue 11 On Thursday, June 1 st, Dunkin Titus Landings hosted a Coffee with a Cop event for local law enforcement officers. The restaurant patrons were able to talk with Titusville Police Officers while enjoying some delicious coffee and donuts. The Titusville Police K9 unit held a demonstration and Q and A session at the North Brevard Hawks Pop Warner Football Team s 2017 season registration kick off. K9 officers and police dogs demonstrated obedience and apprehension skills! Community members had the opportunity to get up close to one of TPD s newest police dog. Amy Matthews and Officer Matthew Plants accepted a generous donation of sunscreen on behalf of the Titusville Police Department from the staff at Parrish Medical Center. All officers can now be protected from the sun s dangerous UV rays just in time for summer and 2017 National Sun Safety Week beginning June 5 t As part of the Titusville Police Department s commitment to ongoing education for Officers and Staff, Kim Spence Ph.D. Coordinator of Educational & Training Programs Center for Autism & Related Disabilities at UCF conducted an education and training seminar on adults and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. 2 In accordance with FSS , each law enforcement agency must ensure that appropriate policies are developed which implement this section and that training is provided to its law enforcement and correctional officers based on those policies. 3 Congratulations! Titusville Fire Department would like to congratulate our newest solo paramedics; Stephen Hartselle, Will Martin, and Jeff Trafton! Well over a year of hard work and dedication goes into the process of becoming a state certified paramedic and completing the fire department solo process. Throughout the course of this time, these individuals have gained extensive knowledge and skills in the practice of pre-hospital advanced life support. It has been a long journey, and they have done an outstanding job! Keep up the hard work! Page 3 of 8

4 Page 4 of 8 Titusville Fire personnel received training on the new generation HURST EDraulic extrication tools that were purchased this budget year to begin replacement of an aging inventory of extrication tools. The in-service training reviewed topics such as use, care and maintenance of the tools, which also included a new set of air bags. The new EDraulic tools are the latest in battery powered extrication tools that add mobility, strength and ease of use to our inventory of rescue tools.

5 On Thursday, May 18, 4 th graders from Oak Park Elementary performed the 2 nd Annual Humpty Dumpty Egg Drop. Titusville Fire & Emergency Services Station 13 s crew; Lieutenant Brian Strong, Driver/Operator Lucas Senger and Firefighter Kevin Karpiak, used the ladder on Truck 13 for the third and final drop. Life Safety Specialist, Kerri Lubeski provided assistance. There were 48 eggs dropped from over 50 feet and 23 survived! All the finalist s names were put in a hat and D/O Senger randomly selected the winner. The winner received four tickets to Kennedy Space Center, provided by Country Inn & Suites, Cape Canaveral. On Friday evening, May 26, youth from The Forge were sprayed with water from Engine 11 s crew. Driver/Operator David Neeld, Driver/Operator Scott Einkopf and Firefighter Ryan Birge let the teenagers take turns spraying the hose onto their peers. The evening was a celebration of the end of the school year and kick off to summer. Every Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. The Forge Youth Center provides a safe, fun place for all teenagers to be together Page 5 of 8
