23 Womack Army Medical Center Important Information for Step Parents - A step parent is not a biological parent. - A step parent is related to the child only by marriage to a biological or adoptive parent. - There are cases where step parents may attempt to become involved in the care of a minor child. Under the HIPAA Privacy Rule and state law, a stepparent has no legal right to serve as the personal representative of a minor, unless they have an appropriate legal document granting them authorization. - People other than the biological or adoptive parents need a judicial order, guardianship power of attorney, or other legal document that grants them authority to consent to medical treatment or obtain the child s protected health information.

24 Womack Army Medical Center Meridian EpiPen Recall - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is alerting consumers to Meridian Medical Technologies voluntary recall of 13 lots of EpiPen and EpiPen Jr Auto- Injector products. - The recalled product was manufactured by Meridian Medical Technologies, a Pfizer company, and distributed by Mylan Specialty between December 2015 and July This recall is due to the potential that these devices may contain a defective part that could result in the devices failure to activate. Products that potentially contain a defective part are being recalled because of the potential for lifethreatening risk if a severe allergic reaction goes untreated. - Please examine your packages, and if you have a product from an affected lot, contact Stericycle at to obtain a voucher code for a free replacement product. Present the voucher code at any Womack Army Medical Center Pharmacy and you will receive a replacement.
