3 Dear Brother Sir Knights. Mother Teresa Assembly 2506 Faithful Navigator s report May was another busy month for us at the MTA; two of our most important events involved: Our elections regarding the new fraternal year , held this past May 16. (The new officers slate is published on page 4). Our annual Flag Retirement Ceremony, held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wylie on May 21. At this event, we proudly honored and solemnly disposed of those flags of our country that were no longer serviceable. Our thanks to everyone who participated in or attended this important and patriotic ritual and, especially, to the Columbus Squires and Sean Fletcher, to Deacon Randy Wilson and to the Wylie Fire and Rescue Department for their help and support. (See page 5). Upcoming June and July events include: Our new Officers Installation Ceremony scheduled for June 3 after the 5:00 P.M. mass at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen. All newly-elected officers must be sworn in by our Worthy District Master, SK Pat Conway. Our Awards Dinner scheduled for July 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church after the evening mass. Finally, this is the last newsletter that I write as your Faithful Navigator, as my term comes to an end and a new fraternal year begins. I wish to thank all of you for giving me the honor of having served our Assembly in this capacity and for all of the help and support which you have given me! Please note that after June 30, I will no longer have access to the FN s . Thus, if you wish to contact me, you should write me at the following address: SK91RF55@gmail.com My best and God bless! Vivat Jesus and Viva Cristo Rey! Robert SK Robert Font, Faithful Navigator MTA 2506 Newsletter June,

I notified the Assembly that this will be my last year serving as your Comptroller. The search for my replacement begins. Finally: Place yourself at one another s service. Galatians 5:13 With the approach of this year s Memorial Day holiday I came across this quote. Nothing more needs be said. Let me not mourn for the men who have died fighting, but rather let me be glad that such heroes have lived. If it be my lot to die, let me do so with courage and honor Please, oh Lord, protect and guide those I shall leave behind. General George Patton June Thoughts: MTA 2506 Newsletter June,

13 Historical patriot of the month Crispus Attucks ( ) Crispus Attucks was the first patriot killed in the Boston massacre, in Boston, Massachusetts. He is widely considered to be the first American casualty in the American Revolutionary War. Little is known for certain about Attucks life. Most historians do agree that Attucks was of mixed ethnicity; of Wampanoag (Native-American) and African descent. Crispus Attucks became an icon of the anti-slavery movement in the mid-19th century. Because of his mixed heritage, his story is also significant for Native- Americans in the United States. MTA 2506 Newsletter June,
14 Parting thoughts of the month In my lectures to students of the geological sciences, I have often cited a case history involving the landslide failure of an earth dam. Three main geological faults were found to be present at the building site, along with two very problematic clays. The professional group hired to do the work developed and elegant design keeping these conditions in mind. The problem; however, was that three distinct clays (not two) were present in the area. And that third clay was, by far, the worst of the bunch! The end result was that the portion of the dam resting directly on the unidentified clay failed dramatically when the structure was 99% completed. Thank God, there was no water behind the dam at the time of the failure, or the outcome would have been disastrous, involving the potential and massive loss of life and property. But perhaps the saddest thing about all of this is that any geology student, event the most inexperienced, studying at the local university, could have pointed out the infamous third clay to the professional group which designed the dam. The lessons to be learned here are: 1) No matter how good you might be at something, there s always the possibility of overlooking a key factor, especially if you are laboring in unfamiliar territory. There is no substitute for local knowledge and experience. 2) Communication is key and the lack of it can lead to errors that may have been easily avoided. At the Assembly level, communication and knowledge-sharing between Sir Knights are essential in achieving synergy and realizing expected goals. If we learn from one another, we can achieve success and avoid repeating mistakes. Just because you have knowledge doesn't mean you are smart; you have to know when and how to apply it. Adapted from a similar quote by Josh Keller. God bless! SK Robert Font MTA 2506 Newsletter June,
