March 20, 2017, 5:00 p.m., Council Chambers Members Present: Mayor Alan Barfoot Provincial Member Dick Beresford (Chair) Community Member Dan Aleven Staff Present: Christine Fraser-McDonald (Recording Secretary) 1. Call to Order Chair Dick Beresford called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. 2. Declaration of Pecuniary Interest and the General Nature Thereof None declared. 3. Minutes of the Previous Meeting a) January 16, 2016 Moved by: Mayor Barfoot Seconded by: Dan Aleven That the Police Services Board adopt the minutes of the meeting held on January 16, Delegations or Deputations (if required) None. 5. Reports and Recommendations a) Detachment Commander s Report for January/February 2017 The Board reviewed the Detachment Commander s report. Carried PSB The Board had questions regarding the violation statistics that were provided in the Criminal Code and Provincial Statute Charges Laid. The Board was Page 1 of 3
3 Township of Georgian Bluffs Police Services Board Minutes March 20, 2017 concerned in the decreased in the amount of charges that were laid from January 2016 to year to date. The Board directed the recording secretary to forward this to the Detachment Commander to respond for the next Board meeting. There was 15 hours of overtime in January due to an assault and motor vehicle accidents. Violent crimes decreased while property and drug crimes increased. Crime clearance rates have also increased. Moved by: Mayor Alan Barfoot Seconded by: Dick Beresford That the Police Services Board accepts the Detachment Commander s Report for January/February Public Question Period None. 7. New Business a) Joint Ticket Books This will be brought back to the next meeting. b) OAPSB Member Response Possible By-law Change Carried PSB Moved by: Mayor Alan Barfoot Seconded by: Dan Aleven That the Police Services Board supports Item 2 Board membership and one vote per board for each AGM item in regards to the possible by-law change and further that these responses will be submitted by each member of the Board. 8. Adjournment Carried PSB The meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m. on a motion moved by Member Dan Aleven and seconded by Member Alan Barfoot. Page 2 of 3
